Balancing Work, Life, and Running | Tuesdays on the Run

Tuesdays On The RunHeigh-Ho, runners!  Welcome to our weekly link-up, Tuesdays on the Run.

This week we are talking about how you balance it all:  work, life, run.

We also are saying a good-bye to one of our hosts, April.  She’s decided to take a break and hopefully will visit us again soon.  Give her some love on her last Tuesdays on the Run!

We welcome with open sweaty running hugs our new host, Marcia!  She blogs at Marcia’s Healthy Slice and we’re so excited she’s joining us!  Erika and I are thrilled to have her on board.

Balancing Work, Life, And Running

I’ve been doing alright since school started, but this past week I’ve fallen off the rails.

Completely off.

Like, my FitBit keeps sending me messages asking if I’m ok.

Ack… pathetic!

What’s going on?  Well… everything!

We’ve got fall break with the kids coming up and a trip planned to coincide.  The sports season is in high gear for my kids, and I’m finding a hard time cloning myself.

Darn you, Science.

I’ve been trying to get things together for a huge garage sale happening next month, and that’s just sent my house into extreme chaos.

Garage sale

I’m not a crazy neat freak, but I do work better overall when everything is in its place. Right now?  Nothing is in its place, and it’s throwing me totally off.

To add to my regular life issues (that I’m admittedly not handling well!), I stepped off a curb last Thursday night on my run.

I did “something” to my foot- the top of my foot.  It doesn’t hurt all the time, but it does hurt a bit when I start running on it.

“When in doubt, sit it out,” is the mantra I usually go with when it comes to injuries.  But I also might be using this as an excuse.

Ok, I totally am because: time.

And it’s REALLY making me crazy right now.   Meaning, my head isn’t clear, and it’s making the rest of the mess I need to deal with feel 1000 times bigger.  Who can relate to THAT feeling, right?

Writing all this out made me realize I need to channel Nike. And Just Do It.

My house may not be clean, and my foot might hurt a bit, but my head will be clear and that’s where I need to start.

See Y’all on the flip side!

  1. Oh no! Sorry about your foot & the chaos. It really sucks when you’re so busy and something sidelines you to boot.

  2. Blah! I feel you on the chaos. October seem to be the month it all hits the fan. Balance is MIA here as well. Hope your foot is ok!

  3. I can relate to this. It seems like when it rains it pours! I hope you have a good umbrella, lol. Seriously, enjoy your trip with your family and I hope you come back feeling great, with a clear head and recharged batteries. Sometimes getting away will do that to you! 🙂

  4. Man, do I hear you on the yard sale mess…I got all set up for one and then it rained. For 2 weeks. So you can imagine what my garage looks like. I hope you come back feeling refreshed from your break!

  5. It’s so hard to say “no” sometimes whether it’s to someone else or even ourselves. Remember: This, too, shall pass .
