2020 Miles in 2020 | Run the Edge Run the Year 2020 Virtual Race

Sharing is caring!

2019 has almost run the course (badumbum!) but that doesn’t mean we should stop running! If you need a little motivation to get off the couch and out the door, join the Run the Edge Run the Year 2020 virtual race challenge. Run the Year 2020 is a virtual race challenging you to run 2020 miles in 2020. Sounds like a heck of a lot of miles, right? Welp- it is. Keep reading: we’ve got options for you (running with friends is more fun anyway!).

Man, 2019.

What a year, amirite? In a lot of ways, I’m super okay with saying goodbye and welcoming 2020 with open arms.

Running is definitely one of those ways. Ahem.

To put it mildly: this year was one long ride on the struggle bus, y’all. Anything over 3 miles just wouldn’t click for me, and I gave up a lot of those goals.

Wise move? Wimped out? A little of both? Probably.

But I still had some fun- I mean, look at this girl. She clearly does not hate ALL running. At least not finish line running!

Mrs. Incredible <a href=

But we don’t need to rehash those old stories; let’s just chalk it up to a year that doesn’t define me and doesn’t define my fitness goals.

Because I’m still here. I’m still moving. And according to recent blood pressure check (oh boy), I still need to run, even when I don’t wanna.

And you guys know me: I need a carrot at the end of the stick. I need something to strive for, something to cross off my daily to-do list, something that keeps me accountable.

Run the Edge Run Year 2020 Virtual Race

Run the Edge has been around since 2011, and it’s a company that truly believes we are all able to reach our fitness goals.

Sure, the guys who started the company are rock star badass athletes (Olympian Adam Goucher and Ultra Marathoner Tim Catalano), but they recognize that rock stars come in all shapes, sizes, and abilities.

I dare you not to fall in love with this group after reading their mission statement:

EVERYONE Included
EVERYONE Challenged
EVERYONE Successful

We believe that everyone can and should feel included, challenged and successful in our community. No matter your experience, athletic ability, size, shape, color, or favorite ice cream flavor, you BELONG here. We have a challenge for you and you CAN do this!

I mean- PREACH, guys!

Here at No-Guilt Life, we feel the same way. As proud residents of the Back of the Pack, we co-sign this mission statement.

2020 Miles in 2020

That’s… well, there’s no pretty way to put this.

That’s a crapton of miles, yo.  There is something satisfying about a specific number of miles to strive for, and tying it into the new year just makes sense to me.

The Run the Edge Run the Year 2020 Virtual Race challenges you to cover 2020 miles in 2020: however you can.

The only rules are that you cover the miles using your feet. Sorry, triathlete friends: miles on your bike or in the pool don’t count!

Some people only include intentional activities such as a run, a walk or a race. Some people count their daily step mileage towards their goal.

Basically: do you, Boo!

While I’m pretty sure I easily cover 2020 miles when I visit the Disney parks on my various trips, I don’t think I should count on those to get me to 2020 miles in 2020.

If you need a little motivation to get off the couch and out the door, join us for the Run the Edge Run the Year 2019 Virtual Race challenge. Run the Year 2019 is a virtual race challenging you to run 2019 miles in 12 months. #ad #runtheedge #runtheyear2019 #runchat #running #virtualrace #virtualrun

A runDisney weekend in steps. Yeah, you could say we walk/run a lot during those trips!

How To Participate in Virtual Races

Virtual races are awesome and they truly are for everyone!

Here’s the scoop: you run the race when and where you want to. On the treadmill, taking a walk around the block, running a traditional race: it all counts!

A lot of runners use the virtual races as a way to keep motivated during training for their big goal races.

How does Run the Year 2020 fit in? Easy.

Say you’re running your first marathon (or 5oth!) this fall and you want a way to push through those summer months of training.

Signing up for Run the Year 2020 is going to help keep you on track by tracking all those miles towards some pretty cool bragging rights and swag.

I have never done a virtual race but have often wondered about them. You look like you already get lots of steps in there. That's really good! Good luck on this one!
