Sum It Up Sunday

Sharing is caring!

This week has just flown by for me.? How about you?? Let’s get to Sum It Up Sunday!

C25K
I finished week 5 of C25K.? I originally thought I’d repeat week 4, but decided to just go for it.? I’m glad I did.? This week I ran 5 minutes, walked 3 minutes repeated 3 times.? How did I make it through?

Glee, y’all.? Glee is my secret weapon.? It’s the perfect mix of music and entertainment for me on the treadmill.? Hey, whatever works, right?

Weight Lifting
I completed 3 workouts from The New Rules of Lifting for Women.?? You can buy your copy here: The New Rules of Lifting for Women: Lift Like a Man, Look Like a Goddess

Loving it!? I think I need to figure out the gym budget sooner rather than later as I can see myself outgrowing the moves and weight I have here at home pretty quickly.? I’d LOVE to put a personal trainer in the mix, but being unemployed doesn’t really allow for that kind of cost.

I know.? I know.? But it’s just so hard to break away from the Mouse.? Y’all feel me, don’t you?

Surprise Trip to Walt Disney World
Speaking of the Mouse… yeah, we are going back.? I’m super excited to take #OhLucy on her first trip to Florida.? Like her mama, she’s a Disneyland vet at a young age, but hasn’t made a trip to the East coast just yet.

We leave soon and I am jealous that Mr. Shenanigans will be breaking the surprise news to the older kids after school.? But not *that* jealous since I’ll be on a flight already.? Hey- he could have taken on the Lu but chose (probably wisely) to take the three kids who can hit the potty alone while he sleeps on the plane.

Did I mention it’s going to be Star Wars Weekend?? And that we are going to #RockYourDisneySide at the 24 hour event?? And that Jennifer Greene, travel agent to the (blogging) stars (that’s me, y’all) hooked me up with a fantastic rate?

It’s going to be a fabulous trip with a ride or 10 on the brand new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.? Well… I hope anyway.? I’ll be stalking that bad boy for soft opening news all day.? If you hear anything- be sure to holler at me on Twitter!

I checked out the weather for the week.? Sunny and hot.? Yeowch.? It’s a good thing we have a great sunscreen to take with us.? Block Island Sunscreen: You’re going to Walt Disney World!

Block Island Organics Sunscreen
As a blogger I am lucky to work with many companies.? One that contacted me a few weeks ago was Block Island Organics.? They sent me a bottle of SPF 40 to try out and review for my readers. ? Sunblock is a good thing- for everyone!-? so I took them up on the offer.? I was drawn to their mission statement:

Our mission is to give everyone access to safe, effective, and lovable non-toxic suncare products. We believe in living outside and enjoying the sun and not hiding from it. With a little sun knowledge and the right sunscreen you can live our mantra: ?Play Smart, Play Safe.?

Um, hello.? This is us.? As an active family living on the sun- aka, Arizona- we live in sunscreen.? Not to mention my almost 7 years as a Cancer Information Specialist with the American Cancer Society: slip, slap, slop, y’all! ?Everyone slathers on at least 15 SPF before we swim, run, hike, or play outside.? I happily took them up on the offer to give a review.

This product is organic and non-toxic.? Pretty important when just about everything these days seems to cause more harm than good, right?? I first used the sunscreen on the kid who needs it most:? my white boy, Luke.? Baseball season provided the perfect opportunity to see how well the sunscreen holds up to the Arizona sun.

His neck looks red- because it was!? Relax, this is the BEFORE picture.? This is what happens when you leave the pre-teen in charge of his own sun screen application. ? Ahem.??

I took the picture hoping to show how light and easy the lotion applied.? The issue with some organic sunscreens is the thickness.? It’s often hard to spread evenly.? Block Island passed the spread test.?? It also prevented any of us from burning throughout the month we used it.? I felt it was a great product and eased any mom guilt I had knowing it was a healthy sun protection option for my family.?

My friends at Block Island want you to try it out as well.? I have a few samples to give away (email me through the contact page- first come first serve!)? If you are ready to give it a try, then GREAT!? You can purchase Block Island Organicsthrough Amazon.?

DietBet
I’ll be talking about Week 2 of the DietBet tomorrow- fingers crossed for another 2 pound loss to keep me on track! I’m announcing my second round of DietBet(s) and the plans I have in store for the next level of loss coming my way.? Yes, it involves betting even MORE money on myself.? Are you up for the bet?

School is almost out for the summer: what plans do you have for the next couple of months?? Running, vacation, working out, working, family…what’s on the calendar?? What are you looking forward to the most once summer rolls around?? #HappySnowman?

I have been kind of disappointed in Glee lately. I will watch until the very last episode, but I feel like the writers are getting lazy. I am glad, however, that they dumped the annoying high school people and are focusing on the original cast now!

So jealous you'll be riding the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train soon!!

Right now I'm just looking forward to the school year being over! A few days of peace and quiet and not being responsible for anybody else will be wonderful!

I still haven't been to Disney. Oh my gosh! What a bad sunburn! I don't even go out in the sun a lot or even to the beach at all since I burn. It doesn't matter how much suntan lotion or how good the SPF is.

It really wasn't bad- he's just that fair that he turns red as soon as he goes out! It was gone the next day. However, you know, the damage was done. Sigh. Hope you get to Disney someday!

Congrats on staying on track with your weight loss plan! We just got home from WDW this afternoon, they were still just testing the mine train with cast members, I even sent my birthday princess who had her BBB makeover to ask if she could ride it and they said they were training.

My husband and 3 yo Jedi went to the Star Wars weekend on Friday and he said it was great but our little boy was overwhelmed by how real the bad guys were.

Thanks Cara! Sounds like you had a magical trip. Those bad guys sure do enjoy their roles! I can't wait!
