Summer Runnin’… Had Me A Blast

So, yeah, not really. I’m not a fan of running in the summer.

But this year is different. This year is my Super Hero Summer and guess what: I’m runnin’!

It hasn’t been too bad up until today. Today, I will not share my Garmin. Because it was hot, sticky and gross which equated to me being whiny and way too slow.

Since we’re into summer running, we’re going to talk about a few items of gear that we love out on the road.

I’m a fool with hydration. If I’m going longer than a 5K, I’m bringing water. And I don’t mind running heavy because I’d rather be prepared with too much water than caught somewhere without.

Camelbak: you rock.

Also rocking my runs this summer: the Sparkle Athletic visor. (affiliate)

They use a Headsweats visor and bling them out.

I think I have one in just about every color, though black, gunmetal, and white are my go-to’s.

If I’m outside in the summer, I’m probably sporting the visor & shades.

And I’m going to through some Body Glide?(affiliate) into my must have list. Because when I get sweaty, things are rubbing together and OUCH. No one has time for that!

And I’d be lying if I didn’t say that Poise Impressa or a Poise Pad goes with me on every run. Especially in the summer because (see above hydration). Keeping it real, ladies, these keep me confident while I’m putting in the miles.

I’ve got one other “must have” item that I consider essential running gear and that’s a treadmill. Which I am currently without.

But my husband is out of town and the paycheck arrived, so you know…

Looks like it’s time to go shopping!

I can't run without Body Glide in the summer either. I recently bought a couple of the mini Body Glide sticks so I can stash one in my running belt for reapplication during really long runs.

Nice to hear that you're back out running! I had an early morning run that was so hot and humid. It's a struggle but it's rewarding to get it done!

I love that hat, so sparkly! I'm thinking about trying some different hats or visors this summer. Since I wear glasses, I haven't found good running sunglasses but I've been thinking about that too...

I absolutely love my treadmill, but now that I'm FINALLY healed and able to start running again, (it's been a long nine months,) my doctor said to "stay off that stupid a** treadmill" because it's bad for my feet. Sigh. Have I mentioned how much I love my treadmill? :) But hey, I'm grateful. :)

I joined a gym to get access to a treadmill again, after a few years of apartment complex fitness rooms. I still don't know if the membership is worth it since I enjoy strength training at home.

I'm with you on the treadmill but unfortunately mine is still dead at the moment.

I carry water for runs of any length, any time of year. For shorter runs I love flipbelt water bottles because they fit in my skirt's pockets!
