Hard-Boiled Eggs? Seriously?

This is one of those posts I’ll file under blogger prerogative.

Is she SERIOUSLY posting about hard-boiled eggs today? Doesn’t everyone know how to boil a dang egg?

You’d be surprised.

There are a couple of reasons for this.

1. I like eggs. I particularly like hard-boiled ones I can grab quickly and eat quickly.

One egg gives you all kinds of good stuff, most important for me is the protein.

As a mom trying to lose weight and stay running, protein is essential in my diet.

And I confess- I suck at eating enough of the nutrient.

2. It’s topical. The holidays are upon us and bring on #allthefood!

3. I ALWAYS have to look up how to boil an egg.

Every. Single. Time.

I’m guessing I’m not alone? Solidarity!

Three Easy Steps To The Perfect Hard-Boiled Egg

Maybe- just maybe– writing this out and posting it will help the EASY steps sink in this time.

And if it doesn’t, well, I know where to look next time, right?

  1. Place all eggs in the pan with COLD water covering them.
  2. If you want easy to peel eggs, put in 1 tablespoon vinegar and a pinch of salt.
  3. Heat water to a boil. Let it boil for at least a minute, but not too long. Remove the pot from the heat and cover.
  4. Let sit for 11 minutes
  5. Drain water from the pot and pour cold water and icecubes on top of the eggs IMMEDIATELY.

  1. I have an egg-cooking gizmo that hard boils them for me…but sometimes they’re hard to peel. I recently read that the best way to peel them is to do it underwater (i.e. in a bowl of water, under the surface, against the bottom of the bowl). I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, though.
