3 Easy Steps To The Perfect Hard Boiled Egg
3 Easy steps to the perfect hard-boiled egg for those of us who can’t ever seem to get it right!?

Hard-Boiled Eggs? Seriously?
This is one of those posts I’ll file under blogger prerogative.
Is she SERIOUSLY posting about hard-boiled eggs today? Doesn’t everyone know how to boil a dang egg?
You’d be surprised.
There are a couple of reasons for this.
1. I like eggs. I particularly like hard-boiled ones I can grab quickly and eat quickly.
One egg gives you all kinds of good stuff, most important for me is the protein.
As a mom trying to lose weight and stay running, protein is essential in my diet.
And I confess- I suck at eating enough of the nutrient.
2. It’s topical. The holidays are upon us and bring on #allthefood!
3. I ALWAYS have to look up how to boil an egg.
Every. Single. Time.
I’m guessing I’m not alone? Solidarity!

Three Easy Steps To The Perfect Hard-Boiled Egg
Maybe- just maybe– writing this out and posting it will help the EASY steps sink in this time.
And if it doesn’t, well, I know where to look next time, right?
- Place all eggs in the pan with COLD water covering them.
- If you want easy to peel eggs, put in 1 tablespoon vinegar and a pinch of salt.
- Heat water to a boil. Let it boil for at least a minute, but not too long. Remove the pot from the heat and cover.
- Let sit for 11 minutes
- Drain water from the pot and pour cold water and icecubes on top of the eggs IMMEDIATELY.

I need this info in my life. Thank you.
Ugh. I hate hard boiled eggs! I hate deviled eggs even more! Yes, I know I’m a weird-o. 🙂
You are welcome.
Do you like normal eggs? Over-easy, scrambled, anything? I love deviled eggs- those are up tomorrow!
Hmm…I’ve always waited for the water to boil, then cook the eggs for 20 minutes. Maybe I’m abusing the poor things?
HA! This is simpler- and I get perfect eggs every time. I feel it’s my small badge of honor.
I totally need to try the vinegar, I have not mastered getting them out of the shell easily!
Reading this about five minutes too late. Once again, cracked a couple of eggs in the process. Next year eggs and water first. 🙂
They peeled like a dream! Now, I haven’t eaten one and sometimes they do have a slight vinegar taste- so use sparingly.
I tried Suzanne.. I tried. 😉
I have an egg-cooking gizmo that hard boils them for me…but sometimes they’re hard to peel. I recently read that the best way to peel them is to do it underwater (i.e. in a bowl of water, under the surface, against the bottom of the bowl). I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, though.
Mmm I love hard boiled eggs!
Yep. I love scrambled and omlettes and quiche. Anything where it’s all mixed up. But separate whites and yolks…Blerch! 🙂
