How To 5K at Disneyland (Without Running a Step!)

You know I love running (ish), and I love it the most when it’s happening at a runDisney event at Disneyland. But not everyone is as crazy as I am to dress in costume and run around the parks in search of bling & a t-shirt.

However, a bunch of those crazies are about to take on the Double Dare Challenge next week at Disneyland. I’m missing it this year (darn move has me stuck on the east coast) but I’m chEARing you on from here.

I can’t wait to see your pictures and the bling!

For the non-runners among us, you know who you are, I thought I’d come up with a 5K challenge for you. While you are there to support your family and friends across finish lines, check out this 5K challenge that is made just for you.

You want to participate in a fun 5K but hate to run? No problem!

How about a 5K Attraction Challenge?

It might take you all day depending on the crowds, but you can get your 5K (or 16,404 feet) covered on some of our favorite attractions. Hey, 5K- one way or another!

Disclaimer: these distances are estimates and not official. But I think you can get the gist!

SPACE MOUNTAIN

3035 feet

You’ll climb and drop (not too far, I promise!) through space on this galactic adventure. It’s a family favorite and one that provides just the right amount of thrills for the whole crew.

AUTOPIA

2568 feet

My youngest could drive all over Disneyland if we’d let them. They both adore this scenic drive and like to point out all the sights along the way.

If you skip Autopia because you think it’s boring, don’t! Get out there for a nice Sunday drive with the fam.

MATTERHORN FANTASYLAND SIDE

2134 feet

There are two tracks to choose from- and I say the Fantasyland side is the one you want to ride to complete this challenge.

It’s just a bit longer and gives a little more ambiance to the ride with the Tea Cups and Alice views.

IT’S A SMALL WORLD

1400 feet

The happiest cruise on earth- is also a long one!

Take a trip across the seas and enjoy staying off your feet for a bit.

BIG THUNDER MOUNTAIN RAILROAD

2671 feet

Truly the WILDEST RIDE IN THE WILDERNESS!

Despite the look saying otherwise, this is my daughter’s favorite attraction.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN

1838 feet

Bonus: multiple Johnny Depp sightings.

INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF THE FORBIDDEN EYE

2500 feet

Finish your 5K(ish) with a trip through the Temple of the Forbidden Eye.

And yes, there are snakes. We hate snakes.

We made it- despite the snakes!

This challenge isn’t for the weak: there will be long lines and a possible ride down (looking at you, Indiana!). You’ll need to plan your FastPasses and time wisely.

And, no, I don’t have medals for this one. But bragging rights are accepted.
