I’m a Virginia mom blogger embracing her 40s and you can email me at email@example.com. I’m a wife, mom, runner, traveler and new nerd blogging from Northern Virginia. Or anywhere my frequent flier miles or trusty 2008 minivan (aka the Vader Van) will take me.
My house is full of loud, sassy, beautiful, and hilarious little people: Luke 14, Claire 12, Seth 10, and #OhLucy is 6. (Yes, she’s so amusing that I gave her a hashtag.) These kids keep me on my toes and are responsible for every strand of gray hair I own.
But I wouldn’t change a thing about them.
I’m married to Rob, a (mostly) perfect guy who indulges me way too much in my Disney & Universal theme parks obsession.
He even goes so far as to believe I like to run 13.1 miles so that I can justify a trip (or 4) to the Disney Parks.
He’s a pretty great guy.
And if you need me to help YOU justify a trip or two, I’m here for you.
My blog came about as a way to express my thoughts when I picked up running and the quest for a healthier lifestyle. I recognized that my health was the best gift I could give to my family, and sometimes that meant being a little selfish with my time to run or workout.
That’s where the “no-guilt life” comes in.
I’ve been known to sing along to Hamilton and quote The Big Bang Theory and Barney Stinson. Leslie Knope will always be my first presidential candidate choice, and I’d move to Pawnee, Indiana in a heartbeat.
A favorite pastime is watching movies with a preference toward action-adventures and comedies. You gotta laugh, amirite?
I’m solidly on #TeamCap and think Iron Man has gotten a bit big for his gold-titanium alloy britches.
Oh- and I’m completely in love with Agent Coulson and Agent May.
As a mom of 4 young kids, things can get a bit crazy around here. Being “The Mom,” it’s hard to carve out that time for me. Setting that first goal of running a half-marathon was scary, but choosing the 2011 PrincessHalf Marathon made it possible.
22 half-marathons and a full marathon later, I’m a runner. A runner who runs for mental and physical health more than for times, glory or even the bling. Though I do like a nice medal.
I’m trying to love running one step at a time. I swear I am. But like my marathon, it’s taking a long time.
I can honestly say that running has given me a community. I consider them my ‘Ohana. ‘Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind.
My ‘Ohana consists of moms just like me: balancing life with work, kids, travel and fun. They throw in a crazy costume here and there as well. Perfectly imperfect is how we roll.
Looking for adventure? Me too!
I’m up for anything, honestly, but I’m particularly happy going anywhere there’s a castle or a beach and a killer sunset. Slap a frothy drink in my hand and I won’t complain!
With my family or with my girlfriends, there’s a great, big beautiful world out there and I want to see it all.
I started school at the University of Texas and consider myself a Longhorn. Hook ‘Em! After marrying my Army bound husband and bouncing around a few years courtesy of the US Government, I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts at Austin Peay State University with a Public Relations major.
If you need to talk Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., running, mom’ing, traveling, losing weight (I’m trying, good grief I’m trying!) or a favorite theme park, I’m the one to call.
Feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Patty is a 40-ish mother of four living in Virginia. A bit geeky, sometimes sarcastic, lover of a candid confession. She's trying to love running, she swears. But much like her marathon, it’s taking a very long time. Ahem. She's searching for the perfect way to balance family, work, travel, and fitness. Perfect defined as high on fun, low on guilt.
