ASICS GEL-Pursue: Review
Affiliate links are included in this post.?
Most of you know I have my first marathon coming up.? I’m actively seeking the right gear for the variety of runs scheduled on my training plan.
ASICS contacted me and asked if I would review their new GEL-Pursue.
The Gel-Pursue? offers cushioning and stability (yes and yes!) with a lower ride to the ground.? This interested me since my go-to shoes (the ASICS Kayanos and the?HOKA Kailua Tarmac) seem to be pretty high off the ground.
I’m all for mixing things up.
The Review:
Jumping right in:? I liked them.
I don’t love them, but I like them, like them.
You know, if we were in 3rd grade I’d be passing notes to these shoes when the teacher wasn’t looking and chasing them on the playground but not crushed if they didn’t like me back.
That kind of like.
I am high maintenance when it comes to my feet.? With a history of plantar fasciitis and terrible blisters in the past, I know my feet are my most important asset as a runner.
This lighter shoe made me skeptical that it would be for me.
But it feels great.? Even straight out of the box!
This shoe is a little more responsive (I noticed the road more) and less pillowy.? But they still offered the support and cushioning that my Princess and the Pea feet need.
A pleasant surprise: I didn’t need to “break them in”.? I just ran.? And had no complaints.
They fit true to size.? I always go up a half size in my running shoes and this followed suit.
This shoe is a good compromise for runners like me who are looking for the cushion but want to feel less sluggish on the lower mileage runs.? I don’t want to plod along on those; I want to fly.
I wore them for 20 road and treadmill miles over the past 2.5 weeks.
As an overweight and slight pronator, this shoe is fabulous for under 6 miles.? When I hit 6 miles in a run I was noticed random foot twinges.? The balls of my feet started “talking” to me and I knew it wasn’t going to be mylong distance shoe.
Obviously, if you aren’t overweight and are a neutral runner than the Gel-Pursue most likely won’t cause you any problem!
The Price:? You can find these on Amazon for under $80!
Other places have this shoe listed for $110.? So, you know, Amazon is way cheaper.
For a solid shoe (and one chosen as Best Debut in Runner’s World’s Fall Shoe Guide) I’m not sure how people can pass this one up.
Color(s)?
This might be the biggest negative for some runners. There’s only 1 color choice at this time.
I know, I know.? Color isn’t everything but we LOVE choices.
The good news is they one color scheme they offer is actually pretty nice.? I think I’m Buzz Lightyear (to infinity and beyond) in these shoes!? Not really, but they work for me on the color level as well as functional level.
The stats:
I can see a relationship blooming and this shoe finding a home in my rotation schedule.? This won’t be my marathon shoe, but it will help me get ready for the big day.
Thanks again to ASICS for providing me the opportunity to share this shoe with my readers.
Are you a cushion fan when it comes to your running shoes?? Or does less mean more for you?

Impressive price! I am definitely an Asics girl, but I wear the cumulus :0) I’m not too experimental with my shoes since they’ve been perfect for me since day 1 lol
I bought a pair of Asics GT-2000’s yesterday. First new “running” shoes in 5+ years. They felt great as soon as I put them on, but the real test will be tomorrow when I take them out for a spin.
