I’ve got 3 Marvel movies list you can follow based on your perfect order to watch Marvel movies: MCU release order, MCU chronological order, and a beginner’s guide to the MCU.

Avengers Infinity War was HUGE. There’s no other way to put it.

And Avengers: Endgame? Yup. 

EVEN BIGGER. 

And Phase 4 with the Disney+ series like WandaVision, Loki, and Falcon, and The Winter Soldier are just blowing us all away.

1. Marvel Movies In Order: Release Order

Maybe you just started your Marvel movie love with the blockbuster hit, Black Panther. It definitely brought a lot of new Marvel fans to the fold!

2. Marvel Movies In Order: Chronological Order

Onto the second of your Avengers Marvel movie lists!

The cool thing about the Marvel movies is the timeline: they bounce a bit back and forth through time.

It is one of my favorite parts of Marvel storytelling for me, but I know it can muddy the waters for some.

If you start watching them in release order and find yourself a bit confused- or that is just not the way you think a story should work-  the alternate option of watching Marvel movies in order before Black Widow is in chronological order.

Follow the actual timeline of events instead of the release dates.

This means Captain America is up first, not Iron Man. Cap is the first Avenger, after all!

3. Marvel Movies In Order: The Beginner’s Guide to the Marvel Movies

If you are brand new and need a beginner’s guide to the Marvel movies, I’ve broken it down for you.

Here is your Marvel movies list in order for beginners- watch these before you watch Eternals. 

I promised you there would be a shortlist for those that might not have tons of free time to invest in Marvel Movie Marathons every week.

Here’s the scoop: the list isn’t *exactly* short. I’m sorry- I tried!

First I tried to narrow this down to four movies.

I guess you could just watch the Avengers movies if you needed to make this short and sweet.

• The Avengers: Age of Ultron
• Captain America: Civil War
• Avengers: Infinity War
• Avengers: Endgame

Civil War is technically a Cap movie, but it works for this purpose.

Most of the Avengers show up in Civil War and it’s a great flick!

Is that enough? Nope. I think you are still missing some major background.

Then I tried seven.

Nope.

It was making me feel a little like this guy right here. (psst- that’s the Incredible Hulk in case you really are new to MCU – and you won’t like him when he’s angry!).

The 12 Marvel Movies List in Order for Beginners

I finally settled on watching these 12 Avengers movies. I’m calling it the beginner’s guide to the Marvel movies, aka, the shortlist (I know, I know, not quite, but trust me on this!).

I feel like these movies will set you up to know who is who when Avengers: Endgame goes down.

You’ll have most backstories, some introduction to the Infinity Stones, and at least a grasp on what relationships in the Marvel Cinematic Universe look like if you watch these Avengers movies in order.

I’ve had a few of my friends, brand new babies to the MCU, try this order and all three gave me the thumbs up.

These movies get you interested in the characters, give you some storylines that are easy to follow, and leave you wanting more!
