The Best Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotels
When it comes to hotel accommodations around Disneyland, you have a lot of options. Unlike Walt Disney World, you don’t *have* to stay on-site! The number one question is how do I find the best Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotels? Here’s your list of all the Good Neighbor Hotels near Disneyland with a Good Neighbor Hotels map.

runDisney Hotel History
While this post will address some runDisney specific concerns, it really is helpful for anyone traveling to Disneyland and interested in the Disneyland good neighbor hotel options.
I promise!
If you aren’t a runner: just glance over those specific terms.
I’ve done the research you need to pick the best Disneyland good neighbor hotel for your next trip. And I’ve also got tips on the closest Disneyland airports as well (hint- there are 5 to choose from!).
And if you need to know how to get from LAX to Disneyland, this post is for you.
Or, hey, come join us in the runDisney madness!
Disneyland Hotels To Choose From
I originally wrote this for the runDisney races that happened in Anaheim.
Great news for the runDisney fans: the races are back in Disneyland starting in 2024!
This information can still help you decide if the Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotels are right for you.
For a race weekend, I look at the locations that are closest to the racing action.
This means an easy walk to the expo and something close to the start and finish if possible.
Park entrance location is nice, but my main goal is to get from my room to the race quickly and back again just as quickly.
As a veteran of the Disneyland races and family vacations, I’ve stayed at all of the Disney resorts and quite a few of the Disneyland Good Neighbor hotels.
While this post is going to talk about the best Disneyland Good Neighbor hotel options that might work best for your runDisney experience, I’ll give a quick rundown about the Disney-owned options as well.
Official Disneyland Disney Resorts
This is where we stay when we can afford to, I’ll be honest.
The onsite hotels are some of our favorite Disneyland hotel options with good reason.
Location, location, location!
The Disneyland Hotel
You can’t beat this for location.
It’s where runDisney holds the expo- so if you shop a bit too much, you can run to your room without going out of your way. Or if you forget something, it’s an easy stop in to buy at the expo.
We stayed here for the return of the runDisney races in 2024 and had no real complaints. The biggest issue was the start and finish are about a mile walk away. Which, in Disney terms, isn’t too bad.
But I’d also throw out there that jumping in an Uber or Lyft post-race is a grand idea! You’ll skip the park opening + race-ending security lines, which can get really long on the Harbour side.
I stayed here for Tinker Bell one year and had the pixie dust of a fireworks view room.
Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel
This is where I’d choose to stay with my family.
It’s just so easy!
You have a quick 5-minute walk to the expo, an entrance to Disney’s California Adventure Park, and a lobby to die for.
Since not everyone in my family is up to running (or cheer, for that matter), they can get an early move to the parks without much disruption to their day while I’m out running.
If they want to cheer, it’s a very simple walk to Downtown Disney or the start line to see their favorite runner go by. This is a middle of the road location, so to speak.
You still have a bit of a walk through security, but you can also walk along Disneyland Drive to Katella to get to the start line, therefore bypassing Downtown Disney security issues. You’ll still go through security at the race, however, even as a spectator.
Pixar Place Hotel
I ranked this last primarily because of cost.
It’s the least expensive of the Disney hotels, which is true, but I don’t think the value is worth the price. It’s just not the same level as the other two resorts.
I stayed here when the room was $175 a night, and I felt that was acceptable for the Disney name.
Now, the price is closer to $500 a night.
Mmmm, no thanks. Even though the Pixar theming is absolutely an upgrade!
It wasn’t special enough to rank that much for me, but there’s a new entrance from the hotel directly into DCA which is appealing and very useful in the mornings.
So it might be worth a second look in the coming year.
The Best Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotels
Onto the heart of the matter: the Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotels you might want to consider for your next stay.
There is an official Disney distinction between official Good Neighbor Hotels and local hotels: not all hotels in the area are given Good Neighbor status by Disney.
To get the designation of a Good Neighbor Hotel, Disney looks at things like price, amenities, service, and location.
Don’t be scared off if a hotel isn’t an official Good Neighbor option; it’s just something you’ll want to be aware of as you book in the area.
I’ve stayed at many non-official good neighbor hotels and can say they are safe, comfortable, and generally good options in the area for most families.
Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotels Map
I love this map. It’s an older map, but it still checks out. (Anyone catch that?)
Some hotels have changed names, and some have been added, but this gives you a great idea of how things are laid out in the Anaheim area.
Go ahead and pin this Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotel map because you will frequently refer to it.
Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotel List
The hotels that are given official Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotel status are broken into 4 categories: economy, moderate, superior, and suites.
Economy Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotels
By economy, Disney means the cheapest hotel option in the immediate area.
The amenities are going to be pretty much bare bones and the pricing is as close to $100 a night as you can expect to find (depending on season).

I’ve stayed at the Quality Inn and it definitely lives up to the economy name! But the room was comfortable enough for the short time we were there.
Moderate Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotels
This is the hotel sweet spot in my opinion. I’ve stayed at quite a few of these locations in the moderate category and haven’t had a bad stay yet!

If you’re looking for the best Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotel, this is it!
I’m actually surprised it’s not listed in the superior category- it’s phenomenal.
The location is perfect for families walking back and forth to the park. The rooms are huge and spacious and can sleep six if you book the bunkbed rooms.
Disneyland fireworks can be seen just across the street- and your family will absolutely love the 6 waterslides located onsite.

The Holiday Inn & Suites on Walnut has everything I need: including a quick walk back to the hotel after the race and a fabulous hot breakfast.
They have fun-themed suites as well and my kids got a kick out of the Pirates of the Caribbean suite we stayed in last year.
And they have indoor entrances- something that you don’t always find in the hotels around Disneyland.
Hotel Menage/Four Points by Sheraton
1221 South Harbor Blvd.
Distance: .85 miles
Notes: ART.
This location has had a recent name change from the Hotel Menage to the Four Points by Sheraton. I stayed here when it was the Menage.
There are two things working against the Menage: fireworks and distance.
The Disneyland fireworks are set off just across the freeway from this hotel. And it is LOUD. Unbelievably loud.
This is an outdoor entrance hotel that may have contributed to that fact. If you are an early to bed type, well, don’t even try!
Distance is the other negative. It’s probably the farthest walking distance hotel that I’ve stayed in. It’s just not ideal for a race weekend unless you are on a budget and can go with the flow.
Howard Johnson Anaheim Hotel
1380 South Harbor Blvd
Distance: .6 miles
ART. Complimentary internet access, a water park play area, plus a perfect 8-minute walk to Disneyland.
We recently stayed at the HoJo Anaheim and have nothing but complimentary things to say about the property! You’ll love the recent updates if you haven’t been here for a few years.

I started stay at this condo since 2013 Dumbo weekend and never stay elsewhere. Their condos are absolutely awesome, within walking distance and you can’t beat the price with what you get. And it’s 1,800sqft condo, not a room. Some with 2br, most with 3br (or even more!). The place are clean and the management company owner are lovely to work with!

Thanks for the share! Those look lovely. Maybe next time my family goes we will give these a try!
We have stayed at the Marriott Suites for the last 5 years. The bus is fast to the start line and the race ran down the street next to the hotel. Great place to stay with the family sleeps 6.
I’m always looking for family of 6 options! Thanks!
I’ve stayed at the Candy Cane Inn before. It’s nice, quiet, clean, and of course, within walking distance of so much.
I sopped up this post Patty- come Thursday I check-in to my first-EVER off-property stay at a Disney Park. EEEEEK. I was happy to see the Annabella made your acceptable list; I had read some questionable reviews… I’ll let you know how I fare Miss Marathon!! <3
Question about the Harbor Hotels… this will be the first runDisney event that my sisters and I will doing at Disneyland, and we’re considering the Tropicana Hotel. Will we be able to take the walkway between Disneyland Park and California Adventure to reach the starting line? It’d be a pretty straight shot out the hotel doors, but we aren’t sure if that whole area is gated off at 3:30 in the morning. Thanks!
Yep! The ART buses run that early and drop people off right there. You will be able to follow the crowd across the street and make it through security and over to the start from there. It’s a great location for visiting the parks, too!
Hi Patty,
This is such a wonderful list nansi love how you labeled it by parking fee, breakfast and distance! How would Howard Johnson rate in your experience?
I liked it myself- and it has a good rep amongst Disney people!
How is the Embassy Suites by Hilton Anaheim North for 1st trip to Disneyland with my kids? 🙂
