Bon Voyage Breakfast at Trattoria al Forno Review

Sharing is caring!

The Bon Voyage Breakfast at Trattoria al Forno is one of the best new character breakfast offerings at Walt Disney World. It features a few things that make breakfast at Disney’s Boardwalk my favorite meal of the day: pastries, eggs, mimosas, Bellinis, and Flynn Ryder.

So you know I had to make it happen! I mean, the smolder…

The first thing you need to know is that this is a hard reservation to come by.

Because it’s a fairly new Disney Boardwalk restaurant offering, the Bon Voyage Breakfast time slots have been scooped up pretty quickly. I think it’s also gaining a good reputation in the Disney-sphere for good food and fun characters.

Be sure to put this high on your advanced dining importance list when you go to book at 180 days. Or make sure your travel agent knows you really want this one!

Bon Voyage Breakfast Menu

Bon Voyage Breakfast menu and character cards

The menu was not your usual Disney World breakfast, ie, there’s no buffet.

And the moms say AMEN. Because who ends up getting up with various kids and filling plates?

Yup. Mom does.

I was happy to see a nice variety on the menu.

You start out with some pastries in a frying pan (of course!) and fruit or yogurt parfait.

Our table was split between fruit and Parfait: both were given passing marks.

You can then choose your main course off the menu. Items include:

Shipwreck al Forno
Calzone with scrambled Eggs, Soppressata, Bacon, Sausage,
Blend of Cheeses and Sunday Gravy

Golden Frittata
Prosciutto di Parma, Piquillo Peppers, Green Onion,
Pecorino Romano and Roasted Potatoes

Tangled Eggs
Tomato & Basil Scrambled Eggs,
Fresh Mozzarella, Sunday Gravy and Roasted Potatoes

Two Eggs Poached Under Water
House-made Fennel sausage, Parmesan, and Sunday Gravy
over Golden Polenta and Toasted Ciabatta

Tower of Pancakes
Seasonal Buttermilk Pancakes with Bacon or Sausage

Royal Breakfast
Oak-Grilled Steak, Cheesy Egg Torte, Asparagus,
Crispy Onions and Roasted Potatoes

Swimmers di light’
Smoked Salmon Egg White Omelet with Spinach, Mushrooms,
Tomatoes, Goat Cheese and Roasted potatoes

We all got something different and decided it was all good.

I personally voted my meal the best breakfast I’d had on Walt Disney World property and that was BEFORE I got to hug on Flynn Ryder.

Basically, the peach Bellini sold me.

Of course, there always has to be that one person in the group.

“I’d like a mimosa, but hold the OJ please.”

Oh, Taty. You are too much fun, girl!

Bon Voyage Breakfast Characters

The characters are what I’d consider rare meet and greets.

Flynn Ryder, Rapunzel, Prince Eric, and Ariel are the stars of this breakfast.

They each come to your table individually and offer to take pictures.

We were 4 grown adult women so our interactions were quick, though charming. But we watched many sweet moments around the room between the characters and the children.

The characters also have a parade around the room to kick off your “adventure” which is fun. Kids of all ages are welcome to join in the excitement.

There’s no question I’d bring my 8-year-old here as a top 1 or 2 choice for character interaction. She’d love the attention of the royal couples!

Bon Voyage Breakfast Final Verdict

My group enjoyed the experience. The ambiance was good, the food tasty, and the drinks delightful. The smolder from Flynn Ryder wasn’t even needed, but hey, always appreciated. I’m pretty sure I’d do this one again… except…

The only negative for us was the cost. Character dining just isn’t cheap, and as adults, do we REALLY need it?

Maybe. Maybe not.

I learned about another option for character dining that helps alleviate the guilt of spending too much money at one meal. I know this is No-Guilt Life.

But let’s be honest: spending a lot of money on yourself brings on the mom-guilt!

So what’s a character loving mom trying to be budget-conscious to do? There’s a fantastic breakfast offered across the street from Disney Springs at the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista. It’s the closest hotel to Disney Springs (seriously- just a walk away! Super convenient.) and it can be about half the cost of other character meals at Walt Disney World.

AND THEY HAVE MICKEY WAFFLES.

Each Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday the main dining room offers their Sunshine Breakfast time with Pluto and Goofy.

Have you been to the Bon Voyage breakfast yet? What did you love? It was the Bellinis, wasn’t it?

I absolutely love this place!! Had a blast the morning after Princess Half Marathon this year!! When the characters were making their grand entrances, Eugene had presented Rapunzel with a rose, they danced around for a few minutes and when the music stopped, Eugene asked me to hold on to the rose for him and Rapunzel. When Rapunzel came to the table, I tried to give it to her and she told me to wait on Eugene. Then when I got to Eugene and gave it to him, he whispered to me a congrats on a race well run and gave me the rose! What a magical experience for a grown adult to have!! I still have the rose, I took it home and pressed it!! It is my Eugene Fitzherbert rose and reminds me of one of the most magical memories I will ever have with a character!!

Peach Bellini, Mimosa, pastries, oh my! That all looks so delicious and pretty! Don't you just love it when breakfast food looks so pretty? It's all in the presentation :)

"....hold the OJ" ...that's a classic! I'll have to remember that one! ;)

Um, YUM. Sadly, the teenagers don't want any character meals this trip (except for MAYBE Crystal Palace because you never outgrow the Silly Ol Bear). Looks DELICIOUS.
