Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day With Cherry Blossoms | Tuesdays on the Run

Tuesdays on the Run Link Up- every Tuesday we have a new running related topic. Join your favorite running bloggers in linking up each week.

St. Patricks’ day is on Friday.

This week on Tuesdays on the Run we want to know what plans you have for the holiday! Are you running, dressing up, staying in? How does your St. Patrick’s Day weekend look.

Don’t forget to link up with Erika, Marcia and me this week.

Calendar of topics for March:

  • March 7 – how do you create your race schedule
  • March 14 – Talk to us about St. Patrick’s day – do you have traditions, a favorite race, a costume you’ll be wearing?
  • Mar 21 – Sell us on your favorite local race. What do you love about it and why should we come run with you?
  • Mar 28 – Rate your month (and tell us if you want to keep this topic)

St. Patrick’s Day Plan

We don’t really have one.

I’ll make corned beef, carrots, and potatoes. Probably color the kids’ milk green because they think that’s fun. But that is the extent of my crazy plans.

I don’t dress up or run the themed races. If the temps go up enough and the snow melts, this Goldilocks will get out and complete the scheduled C25K training that day. But that’s really it.

So pretty much… I got nothing today!

Oh, wait- if things aren’t too cold I might head out to DC again to see the Cherry Blossoms. I’m not super hopefully much will survive the freeze and snow as far as blooms, but who knows? Maybe it won’t be that bad. And that would be a perfect place to complete my St. Patrick’s Day C25K run.

So I don’t have Shamrocks- but here are some pretty Cherry Blossom pics instead.

I do look forward to hearing what YOU have planned! Tell me what’s going on in your hood!

About Patty

Patty Holliday is a wife and mother of four. She's a travel agent specializing in Disney & Universal vacations- and loves a candid confession. Find her in Virginia (or anywhere frequent flyer miles or her trusty minivan takes her.)

  1. I’m with you. I don’t celebrate St. Patty’s day and I don’t pretend to be Irish for one day..haha. I do usually make the corned beef and cabbage and potatoes but probably not this year since I forgot to get cabbage at the store. I hope your snow melts quickly! -M

  2. We usually have lamb stew at our house–other than that, we don’t do much celebrating!

  3. No St. Patrick’s Day plans, races or traditions here!! I dropped the ball this year. Every other year I’ve run a local race, but this year gor away from me aber or was COLD.. not sure what we’ll do Friday night-

But your cherry blossoms are beautiful! Makes me long for spring!

  4. When I lived in MD (just 1 year), sadly, I never made it to see the cherry blossoms. In fact, I’ve been to DC many times, but never at the right time.

We’re getting buried in a blizzard presently. Me & my treadmill are gonna be best buds. Get that, buds? 😉

  5. I have zero (well, maybe 3%) Irish heritage, but I pose as an Irish Lass for the day. IT’s all about fun, right? Oh, and I have done a few St. Pat’s-themed races…..

  6. We don’t have particular St. Patrick’s Day plans, but I do love the story of St. Patrick; I would love to sit down and read it again.

  7. No plans here either. The weather is supposed to be great all week (sorry!), so I’ll do my usual weekend run, but there’s nothing special about that.

  8. those flowers are beautiful! I am not a big St Patricks day celebrator, but i do like to do a themed race.

  9. I did not celebrate the day too. It seems you have a busy March, that is good. I also like the flowers. Thanks for sharing!

  10. I love your photos! I don’t really celebrate St. Patrick’s Day…I was never into going on those big bar crawls through the city. When I was in high school we would march in the parade and that was pretty fun!

  11. Beautiful cherry blossom photos! I’m running my first St. Patrick’s themed race this weekend.

  12. How’d you like your first VA snow? At least it’s a March snow, so it’s not likely to be around for too long.
