Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Review

Everyone has their “Unicorn” of Walt Disney World resorts: Disney’s Yacht Club Resort was mine. It’s where I stayed for the runDisney Princess Half Marathon Weekend and it was all I eanted it to be!

I’ve been fortunate enough to stay at some beautiful resorts at Walt Disney World. ? All three monorail resorts (Disney’s Grand Floridian, Disney’s Polynesian Village, and Disney’s Contemporary Resorts)? and at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge have hosted me for a couple of days.

Even cooler: after the runDisney?race weekend, I was going on my first Disney Cruise Line voyage. Staying at the Yacht Club was a perfect way to get me in the cruising mindset.

I arrived early on Friday morning and got into my room right away.

I was checking in for three of us (which meant I had a TON of luggage with me!), and the Cast Members took charge of all of it.

Mom Tip: do not be afraid to take bell services up on their offer to help!?? I know as moms we are often used to saying, “No, I got it!”? But really- let them help you.? It’s the best feeling EVER.

The staff at the front desk and bell services were fantastic.?? They had me squared away and into my room by 9 am.?? Official check in is 4 pm, but sometimes pixie dust will fall your way in the form of an early check in!

Even more pixie dust happened: we nabbed an upgraded water view.

Y’all.? This VIEW!

It was fit for a runDisney Princess, right?!

I could see fireworks from my balcony.? Holla!

The rooms are huge.? We were four FEMALE runners sharing a room with two queen size beds.?? You know this means we brought a lot of luggage and a lot of hair and makeup “stuff.”

Okay- truth be told, one of our party traveled with carry-on only.

Whaaaaa??!! Who does this for a race weekend?

So we had a little extra closet space thanks to her awesomeness. But there was still tons of room to spread out for everyone.

The rooms sleep 5.

There are two queen size beds, and they are luxurious- those sheets, man!? I wanted to take a set home with me.? Don’t worry, Mickey, I didn’t!

The room also had a fold down sofa bed that is very nice.? I’ve slept on these similar beds before.? However, for this stay, I shared a bed.

The extra bed is ideal if you have a teen with you, but an adult can be quite comfortable on the full-length bedding.

We had a desk and work area over by the balcony with plenty of outlets for charging devices.

I loved the nautical touches found throughout the hotel and our room. Admiral Mickey has much to be proud of in this hotel.

The bathrooms offer two sinks and mirrors.? I was happy to find ample counter space and plugs here too.

The tub and toilet were in a separate area shut off by a door (and it had a full-length mirror on it as well).

While our room was fantastic, the location makes this resort worth the big bucks.

Walking back and forth to Epcot took a matter of minutes.? This is especially nice after the half marathon.

Julie and I stopped in Epcot for some pictures and then headed to our hotel through the International Gateway.? Julie grabbed a beer for the stroll on the way back.

It doesn’t get much better than that!

We also took advantage of the dining in the area and ate breakfast at the Beach Club Resort next door and Trattoria al Forno on the Boardwalk.

I tried hard to come up with something negative about our stay.

Nope.? Can’t do it.? It was all wonderful.

Did I mention the pool?? No?

Oh man… the pool is FABULOUS at the Yacht Club.

Stormalong Bay is shared with the Beach Club Resort.? It’s a huge meandering pool complex covering 3 acres.

There’s a 230-foot-long water slide, sandy bottom zero entry area, lazy river and three whirlpool spas.

If you want to skip a park day and hang out in Stormalong Bay, you would not be the first to make that choice!

Have you stayed at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort for a runDisney race weekend before?? What do you think you’d like most about this resort?

  1. So excited to stay at the Yacht Club and meet you at the conference! We stayed at the Beach Club next door and loved it – my kiddo even had me going down that waterslide. So fun! And you just cannot beat the location.

    1. The slide was closed when we were there- but I know it will be OPEN in May! I’m on it this time. HA! Looking forward to meeting you Shannan!

  2. So this is the resort that’s been on my list for a while. I had been telling my husband I want to split between there and Wilderness Lodge – and I’m doing just that during DSMMC next month! See you there 🙂

  3. Beach Club is a mixed bag for me. I love, love, love the location and the rooms are nice. Sadly though, my Disney dining style doesn’t match up. I love to eat light meals so I can snack on all the unique things at the parks. Not having a real counter service at BC/YC made things difficult, especially when we’d get back from the parks and can’t get anything to eat because of reservations being booked solid. Wouldn’t be so bad for an adults only vacation. Thank goodness for the concierge lounge on that trip.

  4. We LOVE the Epcot area resorts! In fact, I pulled an Epcot area hat trick staying at Yacht in December, Boardwalk in February and Beach in March. Definitely encourage you to stay at all three if you get the chance!
