Tuesdays on the Run topic this week: your dream race swag.
What would you like to see in your next swag bag at a race?
Are you tired of shirts and want to see something a little different?
Go ahead, dream BIG. Here’s your chance to tell us what would be cool to find at your next bib pickup event.
I can’t promise any RDs will be reading, but you never know!
Dream Race Swag
The nicest swag bag I ever got was the year I ran the 3M Half Marathon in Austin.
It was pretty dang sweet. I think there were sunglasses in there as well, but I must have been wearing them by the time I took the picture!
I also love the swag from the Phoenix Half Marathon. It includes a great tank shirt (a rarity!) and arm sleeves. Both of which I wear often. It’s a little different but totally practical in Arizona. Keep up the great work guys!
As you know, my first love when it comes to racing is Disney. But what I don’t love is Disney’s pathetic swag.
So what do you get in a runDisney swag bag?
Outside of decent race shirts, you get Nada.
Oh wait, we get some pins and maybe a mini Clif bar. Buuuttt… that’s about it unless you run Princess, then you also score a sling backpack. That you probably never use because you own a zillion of these.
It’s kinda crazy that THE most expensive races out there provide THE least amount of swag at the expo.
So I asked a few friends what they would like to see from races, including runDisney.
Here are the votes:
Allison said she’d like to see a Fast Pass to the next mile marker, but she decided to settle for a Fast Pass on any ride at Walt Disney World during the Marathon. I LOVE this idea. “Every mile is magical” and 26.2 of them would be freaking phenomenal if there were some more rides involved!
Barbie voted for singlets instead of race shirts. Nice idea!
Cambrey said she loved her headband from Big Cottonwood. A little different than the usual race shirt option.
On the same thought process of “other than race shirts”, Sandra & Buffy want jackets from runDisney similar to the Hot Chocolate races. They DO have some nice swag at that event!
I have to agree with Deby: she’d love a visor or race discount code for the following year. BOTH are brilliant suggestions in my book!
Christina took the whole dream thing to a new level: Disney Park Hoppers in each race bag. Ha- love it!
I could get behind some of these ideas!
I’d also love some practical items like sunscreen and blister bandaids in my next bag. Oh- and a pair of running sunglasses would be swell since I tend to, uh, misplace those. Often.
What’s in your dream swag bag?
