Welcome to our weekly link-up!
Tuesdays on the Run is hosted by Erika, April and I and we are so glad you joined us this week.
The topic this week: what did YOU do over the Thanksgiving holiday to stay in shape?? Did you run a Turkey Trot, long walk with the family, hike a mountain, or shovel snow?? Whatever moved you over the holiday weekend, we want to hear about it!
And if you did what I did (um, NOTHING) then go ahead and share any running related post this week.
Expedition Everest Early Registration
As I alluded above, my Thanksgiving was less than productive.
I got the flu.? #whompwhomp
And it sucked.
I’m not a fan of being sick.? I really DON’T do it well and the fact that I’m still married after 20 years speaks volumes on how saint-like Mr. Shenanigans is to put up with me on the rare occasion that I pull the diva card.
So no running.? No flag football with the family.? No hiking.? No walking.
Just a lot of sleeping, medicating, and moaning.? And a little eating.
I need a do-over!
I’m ready for 2nd Thanksgiving, how about you?
Since that covered my weekend, I thought I’d remind the runDisney folks about the Expedition Everest Challenge registration.
Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members:? TODAY is your day!
Registration will open at 12pm ET/9am PT through your membership pages.
Why This Matters:
Apparently the rumors of Expedition Everest becoming extinct are true.? It has been announced on runDisney.com that the 2015 race will be the final event for the 5K event.
Do I hear some groans and moans out there?? Maybe some New Hope for an east coast Star Wars race?? (See what I did there?)
The future isn’t clear what this change may mean.? It could be budgetary.? It could be construction. It could be that something even bigger is coming.? Who knows?? But I can’t wait to see what happens next!
By the way, let’s give a moment of appreciation here for runDisney and their awesome new trend towards transparency.
First they give us a calendar so we can plan for registrations and travel.
And now they go ahead and give us the heads up BEFORE registration opens.
This, my friends, is progress.
I love to see the positive move toward open communication coming out of our favorite running mouse!
Were you planning to run Expedition Everest this year?? Will you be registering this week or on the 16th??

I'm sorry you were under the weather over Thanksgiving! It is really nice to see that RunDisney is being more open and transparent about their races...but I'm still sad that there won't be a Tower of Terror next year! Everest isn't on my radar for next year but I would be all over a Star Wars themed race in the future!

Well, after two years in a row of having an amazingly fun time at the EEC, we've decided that the budget can't handle this race this year. Yes, even though it's the LAST year! Hard to say no, but I'm dangerous with my Annual Passes and I just can't afford to #runalltheraces (unless someone wants to volunteer to sponsor my addiction!). Hope you're feeling better soon! I'm always the SICKEST of all the sick people when I get sick. So, yeah, my husband is a bit of a saint too!

Say it's not true. My sister and I have been wanting to do that race since we heard about it. But we will not be able to do it in 2015 since we have a packed schedule with marathon weekend, princess, and tinkerbell.

Boo! I'm sad that they are discontinuing the race! That is one that I haven't done and would really like to. A Star Wars race would be awesome though...that's one my husband would be happy to pay for and cheer me through! :)
