In case you’ve been living in a sea anemone and hadn’t heard: Finding Dory is coming to theaters around the country on June 17th.
Do you speak whale?
What? ME TOO!
Just in case you need to brush up on those skills, here’s a cute tutorial just in time for Speak Like a Whale Day (which is June 11, by the way!).
Fans are encouraged to take part in Speak Like a Whale Day by speaking whale wherever they go, uploading videos of themselves and tagging #SpeakLikeAWhaleDay.
While you’re speaking like a whale, maybe you want to look like Dory?
I’m heading to the movie early next week and thought it would be fun to pull together some Dory inspired looks.
The catch? I had to do it all from what I had in my closet.
Luckily I like blue!
Since Dory is a blue tang fish, she’s mostly blue with some black and yellow accents. I went with those three colors for the looks.
I liked the blue shirt and flowy skirt in this one.
It’s a great summer outfit, especially for those of us who live on the sun!
Pair it with some cute sandals and a snappy hat and I’m good for a day out by the pool maybe.
When it’s hot outside, Arizona likes to crank the AC way UP inside. So I’m usually cold inside the movie theater.
This one might work for the movie itself.
Black skinny jeans, blue shirt, yellow shrug and some blue peeps make a super easy Dory.
The good news is that I have a few options to choose from.
The bad news is: how will I choose?!
I like them all and think I’d be comfortable in each one.
I’ll probably make a game-time decision on Tuesday before we go.
Don’t worry, runner friends, I’ve got something for you as well.
A few years back I wore my Finding Nemo costume to the Disneyland Half. It was so fun to hear, “Just keep running!” as I passed spectators.
Nemo is a fan favorite!
I decided to wear it again to the Princess Half when my group chose Nemo as our theme.
How cute was this? We also had a Peach and a Darla, but they couldn’t wait on the slower of us (ahem, me) to finish and they missed the picture.
Since I’m always looking for costume options, I put together a Dory race costume.
Same rules: I could only use what I had on hand.
Here’s what I came up with:
Blue tech shirt, blue arm sleeves (or yellow!), a blue Sparkle Skirt and some yellow Zensah compression sleeves.
The visor is from Sparkle Athletics, and I just added the craft foam fins to the side (reused from a Princess outfit this year).
I’d change the visor with some BIG Dory eyes before the race, but the rest of it would all be acceptable racing gear.
Not too bad for shopping in my closet on the fly!
This month we are celebrating 30 days of Dory- be sure to visit the link up at Love Our Crazy Life to see all the Finding Dory fun.
