I’m a Nerd and #IWantMyNerdHQ

Sharing is caring!

This week actor Zachary Levi, Flynn Ryder to you and me, launched his Indigogo Campaign to raise funds for Nerd HQ, his Comic Con baby.  Okay, right there, that’s a lot of nerdiness.  Indigogo, Nerd HQ, Comic Con.  Yeah… I’m a nerd and I love it.

You know I have mad love for Disney.  And Big Bang Theory is, of course, huge.  Star Wars and Marvel comic characters are quoted often at my house.  I am geeking out BIG TIME about the runDisney Avengers Half coming in November.  How could I not love Zachary and his nerdy passions?  Helllllloooo– he’s Chuck, Flynn Ryder and Fandral (Thor: Dark World)!

Zac speaks my language and that’s why I’m sharing his campaign today.  What is he trying to do? He needs $1 million to produce his Nerd HQ at Comic Con, an event that also raises money for a good cause.  He’s well on his way in this first week and I’m asking you to hear him out, see what he plans to do with this money, and consider donating $5.

Just $5.  That’s all.  I’ll let him explain.

?I believe in conscientious capitalism; that’s a kind of driving force with me.?  – Zachary Levi

Zac is not only a big nerd, he’s also got a servant’s heart.  He feels called to give back through his passions so Nerd HQ benefits a fantastic organization called Operation Smile.  “Operation Smile is an international children’s medical charity that heals children’s smiles, forever changing their lives” by offering free surgeries to fix cleft lips, palates and facial deformities. The 2013 Nerd HQ and Nerd Army raised $215,000 for Operation Smile through “Conversations for a Cause” and the “Smiles for s Smile” photo booth.  Whoa.  Last year, 895 life-changing operations were funded through the Nerd HQ efforts.

Think about that.  Your $5 could change the life of a child.  You may not be a nerd, you may not attend Comic Con, but you WILL make an impact on children around the world.  I think that’s really cool.

What kind of nerd are you?  I want to hear the nerdiest thing you’ve ever done!  My list is of nerdiness is pretty long, but my most recent show of nerdiness was running as part of Team Shamy for the Princess Half Marathon with DisBroad April.  She’s the Amy to my Sheldon.  #NerdsUnite

  1. I’m a Harry Potter, Big Bang, Dr. Who, Supernatural, and many other things nerd. Probably the nerdiest thing I’ve done is getting my HP tattoo, since it is kinda permanent and all…

    1. I have “Lumos” and “Nox” across my chest, with the little page corner chapter stars on my shoulders next to them.

  2. I embrace my nerdiness as well! My biggest nerdy passions are all things Disney (except the current Disney channel – blegh!), Harry Potter, and Once Upon a Time!

Nerdiest thing I’ve done? I always went to the Harry Potter book and movie midnight releases/showings. I read the books overnight, too! My dad took me to see the WWoHP a few weeks when it opened back in 2010 (I had just recently graduated college so I talked him into making it a graduation celebration lol) and I ran from the Universal Studios entrance to the Harry Potter part and cried like a baby upon entering it! My dad had a good laugh :0)

  3. I love your nerdiness 🙂 I must be a nerd too because NerdHQ sounds like a_blast to me. I hope to make it this year! Great post Patty.
