Summer means theme parks for my family, and we had a new one to experience last weekend: Kings Dominion near Richmond, Virginia. Not only was this our first experience at the park, but we arrived in time to kick off one of the premiere Kings Dominion Events. Here’s what we learned about Kings Dominion BBQ and Brew Fest 2018 and all the reasons you need to go!

This summer has been long- mostly because we haven’t traveled as much as usual. It feels weird!

We had one big out of state road trip earlier this year, but other than that, we’ve been sticking close to home.

4th of July in Washington, DC was a blast but we’ve all been itching to get back out and see more of what Virginia has to offer!

I partnered with Kings Dominion last week to do just that. And even better, we got to attend one of the excellent Kings Dominion Events: BBQ and Brew Fest 2018.

 

 

Special Kings Dominion Events

Special Kings Dominion events happen year round at the theme park. They are seasonally offered and they all sound like a delight!

Kings Dominion Events: Coaster Campout 2018

• The Halloween Haunt starts on September 22 and runs through October 28. And this one is just the opposite of the Great Pumpkin Fest: prepared to be scared by mazes, scare zones and live shows!
• The Great Pumpkin Fest features a scare-free festival for kids with tons of PEANUTS characters interaction. How adorable does this look?

Alright, now on to the good stuff: the BBQ and Brew Fest food and drink.

We had a hungry crew and we were determined to try everything on the menu. Mission accomplished!

 

 

What is BBQ & Brew Fest?

Only the best excuse to go to a theme park EVER. You can sample a variety of tastes from around the country in the booths.

Kings Dominion’s culinary team outdid themselves with a feast of the senses. I was impressed with the quality and variety offered throughout the stops.

I highly recommend?tasting your way through the festival with one of these Tasting Cards.

 

 

On one side was the menu, broken down by each state’s booth. This made planning our snack attack easy!

The BBQ and Brew tasting cards cost $28.

Each little tab was torn off and turned in for a delightful small portion of BBQ or dessert. We were surprised to find that a main entre and a dessert was actually pretty filling for us- so we paced ourselves through all the booths.

 

 

Kings Dominion BBQ and Brew Fest 2018 Food & Drink

Okay, prepare for some mouth-watering pics of all the good food & drink we had! We’re pretty sure we tried all the food and tasted a beer flight as well as the sweet tea flight.

I’m not even a big sweet tea drinker, but I was in love with the peach tea we sampled and went back for a full glass!

 

 

The only “miss” for us was the Memphis Mac and Cheese. It wasn’t bad; there were just so many other options we loved more.

Def the winner for our household. I think we ended up with about 4 of these throughout the weekend because everyone kept going back for more!

You can take the Texans out of Texas, but can’t take the Texas out of us!

 

 

This was an absolute delight!

Loved the Pulled Pork Egg roll and I think on the 2nd round we added some mustard bbq sauce.

YUMMY.

 

 

My fave right here. I could eat ribs all day, every day.

And the St. Louis ribs made my tastebuds sing!

 

 

The desserts were all winners!

Every single one we tried, we loved.

I’m a Peach Cobbler girl, but my oldest daughter showed up with this tasty pineapple parfait and, welp, I guess I’m a pineapple parfait girl too.

Our overall impression of the Kings Dominion BBQ and Brew Fest 2018: YOU NEED TO GO! It was all so good.

The venue also offered a lot of shaded areas to sit and eat, as well as fantastic live entertainment on stage.

 

 

The portion sizes were decent for the cost and with very few exceptions, we enjoyed everything we tried. I’ve never been fed so well inside a theme park before: truth!

Don’t forget: this festival only runs through August 19th. Get to Kings Dominion and enjoy the 2018 BBQ and Brew Fest before I eat all the roasted corn and North Carolina Sliders!
