Last Call For Whole Milk- A Very Special Shenanigans Post

Sharing is caring!

Bringing up old things… it’s a mom’s prerogative.

This post was originally published on June 7, 2013, on my old blog, Margaritas, Miles & the Mouse.

This picture made me a little weepy today.

No, Shenanigans hasn’t finally lost it. I’m not hormonal right now either- at least not more than normal.

Why then? Why would a gallon of milk about to expire cause tears and nostalgia to commence?

The expiration date is tomorrow- June 8, 2013. I don’t need to worry about buying a replacement gallon either- this is the last whole milk my house will ever see.

You see, tomorrow is my baaaabbbbyyyy’s two year birthday. Sniff.

She’s number 5, and surprise (no, SHOCK!) number 5 at that.

To know Lucy is to love her. Kinda. At times. She’s pretty rotten actually.

With a personality the size of her birth state, little Woogie-Wo-Jo (I have no story for that nickname, it’s something my six-year-old picked out and had stuck) pretty much rules the roost here.

She’s demanding and bossy- both with giving and getting attention.

This is a little girl who is going to do big things some day! I have no doubt. My little version of Shock and Awe. Shock you may have been, but you continue to be AWEsome.

Happy Birthday, Baby Lucy!

2016 Update:

It’s true: all of it. She’s turning 5 tomorrow and is as sassy as ever.

But she’s also sweet and kind and loves playing with younger children. She sweetly stroked the face of her younger cousin at the pool yesterday and then asked me for a baby of her own to play with.

No, baby girl, you are the last.

To steal a phrase, you are my Simple Joy.

You make me laugh and smile every day and I’ll never tire of taking silly pictures with you, my selfie Princess.

I can only hope that the next five years are as HashTag Blessed as the last five. I know I wouldn’t change a thing!

  1. Awww how sweet. Happy Birthday! I’ve got a two year old too who we call “The Brute Squad” (from Princess Bride) because he’s such a crazy child.

  2. Awwww! I hope Lucy has a great birthday! She sounds exactly like my 2 year old. She’s the most loving baby…when she wants to be.

  3. She is too stinkin cute. Looks like we both had babies in 2011! My baby is 19 months old and when she said “phone” yesterday I about cried my eyes out. They grow up too fast.
