Shenanigans is anxiously waiting to throw her money at the screen when the Glass Slipper Challenge opens. I know I’m not alone! Small update- we did get confirmation that the Annual Passholders will have early registration starting June 6. No confirmation on Visa or DVC early registration (rumors say June 7 for both- but those are not confirmed!)
While we wait for June, let’s take a trip through the Disney resorts plotting exciting new 10K courses.
Still dying to see what the gurus at runDisney put together at Disneyland for the Dumbo Dare Challenge. Personally, I think there’s limited options at Disneyland for a course. They just don’t have the space that Walt Disney World has when pulling together unique experiences to run through the parks.
However, I’d be thrilled if we see something like the first 10K of the Tinker Bell Half course. It was perfect!
I kinda might have sorta promised my nieces that this would be what the 10K looks like, so do me a solid, runDisney? Hook me up with this course!
Tweaks to the start and finish lines are expected. The extra complication is the 5K will be running right before the 10K starts- and multiple sources said the start of the 10K start would be close to the finish of the 5K for those people crazy enough to run them both – though multiple sources also discouraged this idea! Silly people- don’t they know we #runalltheraces?
On the east coast, we have a bit more land and options in play.
Based on descriptions, the Disboards gurus were thinking the last 6.2 of the marathon would be the logical choice for a route. I have to agree with this- and would be thrilled with the route personally!
Wait— what?! What’s this Race for the Taste 10K? Apparently this was the precursor to the Wine and Dine Half Marathon. I found a race report from the 2005 race and it sounded like a lot of fun- food on the course, y’all! You were racing AND tasting at the same time. Totally appeals to the multitasker in me.
Here’s another guess that a Run Keeper user created:
Also in the Epcot area, this user assumed the 10K start point would be the same start and finish as the Half and Marathon. Not a bad way of thinking!
Wouldn’t a 10K through the Magic Kingdom be a lot of fun though? I certainly feel like there’s 6 miles worth of park when I’m there on vacations! Logistically the start and finish could be the Ticket and Transportation center.
I came up with this very very VERY crude drawing. Run Keeper is not my friend! But it gives you an idea of what 10K in the MK area might be. Essentially, the same path to and through the Magic Kingdom, back around the monorail resorts that we take during the Princess Half or Donald (and yes, it says 6.35 miles- just roll with it, ok?)
It could happen. The question is- will it?
