List of TV and Movies Talking About Infections and Viruses
So here we are, where I least wanted to be: a psuedo-homeschooling mom. No offense to homeschooling moms everywhere, but I legit am not made for this kind of mommin’. But we’re here and we’re going to get through it. Maybe? Hopefully? I’m leaning into this list of TV and movies talking about infections & viruses- for science lessons. Sure… that’s what we’ll call it. ps- utilize these Disney handwashing songs!
Y’all… the US is pretty much closed. And while that’s a good thing to help stop the infection spread (or at least slow it down? Because it’s too late to stop it… ughhhhh) it does make things, um, challenging over here.
Four kids ages 8 to 17 who need schoolin’… and a mom who is not totally up to that task.
But I’m trying, and on this Day 1 of social distancing, I’m relying on my vast knowledge of TV and movie pop culture references to get through all of this.
Ridiculous, no?
I agree- and in other words: do not take me or this post seriously unless you’re looking for a list of TV and movies talking about infections & viruses
Homeschooling & Parenting Via 80s Movies? Let’s Go With That…
So that explains why I’m venturing into this unknown, but how am I doing so far?
Y’all, I don’t know what I’m doing.
I mean, at least I know that I know that much, right?
But that’s not going to actually help these kids.
This was me, basically, this morning as my 4 children gathered around the dining room table to study where I heard:
Study what?
What do you want us to do?
I’m not sure my teachers sent us home with anything… Mom? Mom? Hey Mom… what should we study?
Me:
Yes, fellow GenX parents… that IS from The Breakfast Club.
And yes, we ARE that mom now.
Or at least… I AM THAT MOM NOW.
Lawdy. Parenting from the 80s movie collection is probably not my best idea.
But hey, on that note…
Spreading Of Infection As Told By Scrubs (Yes, A TV Show)
First, how are we here?
Infection, y’all. And to combat it social distance has been enacted.
This is best expressed and explained by Scrubs.
Of course, it is.
You remember Scrubs, right?
The medical drama-dy starring Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, Neil Flynn, Ken Jenkins, John C. McGinley, and Judy Reyes ran on TV from 2001 to 2010.
Smart, funny, and of course set in the time-tested setting of a teaching hospital, Scrubs was one of the ground and 4th wall breaking shows that defined the early 2000s TV.
And this clip is a basic example of why we all need to be taking social distancing seriously at this time.
I mean…

Will watching any of these actually help me work on homeschooling the kids?
Definitely not.
But they might offer some survival techniques and they certainly will open that conversation about staying away from their friends, movies, malls, and all the social opportunities they currently are wanting to do.
It’s Day 1.
I’m trying… and if there’s one thing I learned from 80s movies, a little fear goes a long way in learning lessons.
Look, no one said I was going to win homeschooling mom of the year!
