Niagara Falls, New York is best known for the stunning waterfalls that make up the anchor of Niagara Falls State Park. The Falls are stars in their own right and they’ve been on my personal “must see” travel list for most of my life. When a couple of television stars jumped on the Niagara Falls boat tour, the Maid of the Mist, and got married during my all-time favorite episode of The Office, I just knew a trip to Niagara was in my future. Last week, just like Jim & Pam, I took a trip on the Maid of the Mist and smiled from ear to ear the whole way. I was in Niagara Falls for the Travel Media Showcase.?

 

 

Just Like Jim & Pam: I Took the Niagara Falls Boat Tour

I’ll confess: I watch a bit of television. A bit might be putting it mildly. Ahem.

I don’t sleep well, I work from home, and well… Netflix happens.

I’m a binge watcher of the worst kind, according to my husband. I find a show I love and watch it over and over and over again.

 

 

Netflix/Amazon/Hulu: you ALL complete me.

Fun fact: I’ve apparently passed this trait on to my daughter which leads me to believe it must run in our genes.

We aren’t just into the tv shows; we’ve been known to binge our favorite Marvel movies or Star Wars movies or Harry Potter movies over and over again.

What can I say? We like what we like!

And one of those shows that are binged over and over again around here is The Office.

 

 

When I found out I was headed to the Travel Media Showcase in NIAGARA FALLS (insert loud, girlie squeal here), I set into hardcore binge mode to get up to speed and make sure The Office wedding at Niagara Falls was fresh in my mind.

I had to make sure I took all the mental pictures – and a few actual pictures as well!

What is the Maid of the Mist?

This is the Niagara Falls boat tour that starts and ends on the American side of Niagara Falls.

You are treated to a 20-minute round trip to the Falls and back, experiencing breathtaking views of the American and the Canadian falls.

Guys. I cannot recommend?this boat tour enough!

 

 

Where is the Maid of the Mist located?

The Maid of the Mist is docked on the US side on Niagara River, just below the Niagara River State Park.

You’ll find adequate parking in the Niagara River State Parking Lot 1, which is just a short walk to the ticket booth where you can purchase tickets?for the famous Niagara Falls boat tour.

 

 

It’s totally walkable too. Most of Niagara Falls is, actually.

I was staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Niagara Falls New York and it was a short and beautiful walk to the park.

 

How Much Does the Maid of the Mist Cost and What is Included in the Price?

The Niagara Falls boat tour can be purchased in advance online at?https://www.maidofthemist.com

I walked right up, however, and purchased the same day tickets. I also lucked out and boarded right away.

Boats leave the dock every 15 minutes- and it was approximately a 15-minute walk from the ticket booth to the Observation Tower, down the elevator, and to the boat boarding.

Plan on a good hour to hour and 15 minutes for your full experience; a little longer during the summer months when you might be waiting a bit longer to board the boat.

The last day of operation for the 2018 season is November 4, 2018.

The 2019 opening date has not been announced just yet, but you can typically get a ride on the Niagara Falls boat tour starting in late April or early May.

 

 

Will You Get Wet on the Maid of the Mist Niagara Boat Tour?

Yup. You sure will.

The ponchos helped a lot, and I’d recommend wearing a ball cap to keep the majority of the mist off your face.

But this is pretty accurate.

 

 

So, yes, you will get a little bit wet. Not soaking wet or anything- but my face, hair, and sleeves were damp after the experience.

So fun and so worth it, though!

 

 

Can you really get married like Jim and Pam on the Maid of the Mist?

Now, I ask you- would The Office ever lie to you?

 

 

This was not one of Jim’s famous pranks: you actually can get married on the Maid of the Mist!
