Here’s everything we know about the new land at Walt Disney World and Disneyland- and it gets a little weird, so you’re going to want to read this one!

You Can’t FastPass That, Flyboy! And Other Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge News
The news we’d all been waiting for broke last week during the Disney Shareholder’s meeting. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opening dates were finally announced- and plot twist- we’re getting in earlier than we thought!
Along with the news of dates came some additional details about the land- and a few of them are super important for those planning to be there opening weekend.
Here’s all the Galaxy’s Edge news we know- and we’ll update this post as more info comes out.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Opening Dates
The new Star Wars land at Walt Disney World opens on August 29, 2019
The new Star Wars land at Disneyland opens on May 31, 2019.
What is Black Spire Outpost?
It’s located on the planet of Batuu, a destination along the galaxy’s Outer Rim.
Aka: space’s wild frontier! is a far-flung destination along the galaxy?s Outer Rim, on the frontier of Wild Space ? the uncharted region beyond all known star systems.
Black Spire is listed as an “infamous port for smugglers, traders and adventurers wishing to avoid any unnecessary ? entanglements with the First Order.”
And we’re going to see some of our favorite faces from the Star Wars movies franchise hanging around here! Expect to see meet and greets for Rey, BB-8, Chewie, Finn (!!) and Poe (!!!!).
Disneyland Galaxy’s Edge Will Require Reservations
If you’ve ever been to Disneyland before, this actually makes a lot of sense.
The whole park is a little harder to maneuver due to the size of walkways- add in Star Wars galactic size crowds and I imagine a standstill of Jabba proportions!
So you’ll need to make a reservation if you want in during the first three weeks of operation. From May 31 to June 23 will need to make those reservations online- more to come on this process.
If you are staying at an official Disneyland Resort Hotel (not the Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotel options), then you will be given a reservation date. So if the Disney resorts are booked solid during this time: now you know why!
How much will these reservations cost for Galaxy’s Edge?
NOTHING! Hey- sometimes the Mouse likes to throw us some cheese. I’ll take a free ressie into the hottest land around any day!
Galaxy’s Edge Opens in Phases
On opening day, most of the land will be ready, but not all of it. Batuu is going to be hoppin’!
Galaxy’s Edge wants guests to be part of the story- and you will feel a sense of immersion when you head into Black Spire Outpost.
In Phase 1, you’ll have all the usual shops and food options, plus one attraction, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
In Phase 2 (opening date TBD) you’ll experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the most ambitious, immersive and advanced attraction ever imagined.
Shops, special foods and beverages (including alcoholic options- gasp- in Disneyland!) will be available to explore and taste.
And you can even channel your inner Han Solo a bit during Phase 1.
Take control of the most famous ship in the galaxy when you board Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run during the opening of this new Star Wars land.
Bring your own Chewbacca and PUNCH IT!

Guys… GUYS! I cannot wait to board this attraction.
But… it looks like I’m going to have to. Because…
You Can’t FastPass Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
Man, I love me some FastPass+ at Disney World and Disneyland’s MaxPass is even better!
But for this opening- you won’t be able to FastPass at either park.

You’ll Want to Download the Play Disney Parks Mobile App
Disney is so good as immersing you into the story- and they aren’t stopping this any time soon!
When you’re in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you’ll want to use the Play Disney Parks app to really connect with the land around you.
Help a smuggler, join the Resistance, or the First Order- I won’t judge- and be part of the story in all new ways in this land.
I think this is going to be a gamechanger in the theme park experience!
Where to Eat in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Last night I was at a travel agent training event and the hosts had me laughing so hard about Popped Grains.

You know, Popcorn.
Apparently, that’s what we’re calling it when we’re on Batuu. The more you know! And you can get these popped grains at Kat Saka’s Kettle stall.
There will be Blue Milk (first seen in Star Wars: A New Hope) and Green Milk (first seen in Star Wars: The Last Jedi) at the Milk Stand.
And you’ll also see a familiar friend: remember R-3X from Star Tours? He’s the old pilot droid. He’s taking over as the cantina’s DJ at Oga’s Cantina. And the drinks here look amazing!

Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo is going to be another option for you guys to check out. Dishes here are inspired by the time the chef worked for Maz Kanata on Takodana!
Ronto Roasters will remind you of the Podracers we loved (did we though?) from Episode 1: Phantom Menace. But the food sounds delightful, so I’ll overlook the specific theming and give it a go!
Where to Shop at Galaxy’s Edge
If you are a shopper, you’re going to love the options you’ll find at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge stores.
Think of the possibilities with shops such as:
- Droid Depot
- Savi?s Workshop ? Handbuilt Lightsabers
- Dok-Ondar?s Den of Antiquities
- Creature Stall
- Black Spire Outfitters
- Toydarian Toymaker
- Resistance Supply
- First Order Cargo

About Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Music
You know Disney wouldn’t leave out something as iconic as the Star Wars music, right?
Right!
John Williams, the Academy Award-winning composer brings all-new themes written especially for the land and its attractions.
Did you just get goosebumps? I did!
Alright, who’s ready to take off to Batuu with me?
