I love all things Disney around here, especially Disney Halloween. And if I can bring a little of that Disney magic home with me during the spooky season, I will do it! Inspired by a recent trip to Disneyland where the giant pumpkin Mickey is hanging out on Main Street (he’s adorable!), I decided to make my kids some Pumpkin Mickey Shaped Rice Krispy Treats. Here’s the recipe and tutorial to make Pumpkin Mickey shaped rice krispie treats, too! Affiliate links are included in this post.

Disney Halloween: The Most Magical Time Of The Year!
Listen, you don’t have to ask me to visit Walt Disney World or Disneyland twice.
I’ll go any time of year for any reason. That’s what frequent flyer miles are for, amirite?
But my absolute favorite time is Disney Halloween, where Mickey pumpkins are everywhere!
Something about this little face on a pumpkin with those ears makes me happy.

One of my favorite Disney snacks of all time is the Mickey shaped rice crispy treats they sell all over property.
When the Disney dining plan comes back in 2024, you can bet I’ll be using those snack credits on these babies!
But when I can’t make a trip back to the parks, I can always make some homemade Mickey shaped rice krispie treats.
Pumpkin Mickey Shaped Rice Krispy Treats: Recipe and Tutorial

Tutorial: Pumpkin Mickey Shaped Rice Krispy Treats
I started with the basic rice crispy recipe that was on the box.
It’s the official- and original!- Rice Krispies Treats recipe you can find here.
It’s super simple, I just added a few steps to make this an orange Mickey Pumpkin Rice Krispy Treat.
1. Melt 3 TB butter and 40 marshmallows in a pan on low heat.
2. Add the food coloring to the desired shade of orange for your Pumpkin Mickey Shaped Rice Krispy Treats.
I used 12 yellow and 24 red drops of my food coloring, but I suspect it will differ for each food coloring out there.
3. Add 6 cups of Rice Krispy cereal to the mix.
If you dump it all in at once, it ends up clumping.
So keep the heat on low and slowly add 2 cups of cereal at a time to the mixture.
Ultimately, you’ll have a nice orange cereal mixture ready for shaping!
4. Lay out parchment paper and spoon the mixture out for shaping.
HUGE TIP: Greese your fingers and hands up with some butter to make this step easier.
You’ll have an easier time working with the cereal mixture if you go ahead and get in there with your buttery fingers!
This is the Pumpkin Cookie Cutter set I bought from Amazon.
Flatten it out and use the cookie cutters to cut one big pumpkin and two smaller pumpkins for the ears.
You’ll want to work quickly before the mixture cools too much!
Place the smaller pumpkins on each side of the large one to make the Mickey shaped rice crispy treats. You’ll want to press them together while they are still warm so they can stick.
Don’t worry about the stems- I had mixed results on those.
I planned on using the Mike & Ike’s candy as stems anyway, so it wasn’t a big deal when my stems did not come out cleanly.
5. Add the green Mike & Ike’s candy as a pumpkin stem.
I made a little hole in the top with a pen top, then slid the candy inside.
The ears and stems stayed in place perfectly when everything cooled in the fridge for a couple of hours.
6. Optional: Add green icing to make leaves or dip the ears in melted white chocolate.
I know my artistic skills are next to zero in icing, but I made leaves across the tops of the pumpkins.
I also thought I’d push it a bit further and added a face to the treats… which I immediately regretted.
But hey, maybe you’ll have better luck than I did?
It was a cute idea in theory, but Pinterest fail worthy right here! Sharing because, well, why not?
Life isn’t perfect, and sometimes, neither are Mickey Pumpkins.
