Am I Race Ready? Review: Gone For a Run Performance Tee

If you read my post yesterday about the Disneyland Half Marathon, then you know the clear answer:? NO, I’m not race ready!
That doesn’t mean you should stop reading though.
In fact, the timing of this post is actually in response to the response from that one.
Confused??
You won’t be… read the next episode of how Shenanigans trains.
(Hey, anyone else remember watching Soap back in the day?? Besides DisBroad Julie…?)
Okay so here it is.? I wrote that post late Thursday night and thought, man, no one wants to read this.
I mean, it’s all about a big failure at a Disney race.? Who wants to hear that Disney is anything but magical?
Apparently you guys get it.? And I shouldn’t have worried that you wouldn’t.? You are my people.
Runners:? you rock.
The fact of the matter is sometimes races suck.? Period.? Even if there’s pixie-dust flying through the air.? It happens, right?
After I wrote that blog post I fired off an email to runDisney practically BEGGING them to find one extra “marathon only” bib for little ol’ me.
I was most definitely feeling unworthy of the whole Goofy experience.
But then the post went live and y’all happened.
Every single post offered encouragement, pats on the back, go get ’em Tiger, and an appreciation of the Been-There-Done-That variety.
It touched me.? Really.
I appreciated every comment and every private message I received on Facebook and via email that encouraged me to keep moving forward.
It was rally cap time.
Or in this case, rally shirt time.
As a Gone For a Run ambassador I get to choose a product every now and then to review.? When this offer came in, I knew I wanted to have something that would give me a little inspiration toward this monumental goal of my first marathon.
Today was the perfect day to give it a test run.
This is the Women’s Race Ready White Performance Shirt: First Marathon.
Features
- Short sleeve v-neck
- Relaxed, comfortable fit
- 100% microfiber polyester oxy mesh
- Great for gym and casual sports wear
- Please note that due to the nature of the printing process this shirt may show press lines after a few washings that should dissipate over time
- Personalized shirts cannot be returned or exchanged
It also comes in a nice pink color for those that like, well, pink.
You can choose from a couple of different runner sayings that you might recognize: Will Run for Wine, Will Run for Margaritas (man, that one was a close, close, CLOSE 2nd, y’all!) and Will Run for Bacon to name a few.
One of the things I love about Gone For a Run is their humor!? They get me, and I love them, so it all works out.

Fit:
I’d say true to size, possibly even a little on the larger size.
I wear an XL in most tech shirts and this one fits well.? I seemed to have a little extra room in some areas (dare we hope that’s due to my success with DietBetting?)
Comfort:
No complaints!
I went for a short run around my neighborhood lake this morning.? It was already around 90 when I got out there, but considering the humidity was a mere 30% I didn’t even notice the heat.
It wicked the sweat off my body and I had a decent little redemption run.? Holla!
Recommend:
Yes!
If you are looking for something fun that can also be personalized these shirts are a good option.

Starting at $29.99 before personalization keeps the shirts well in the typical running shirt range.
The white shirt is a bit thin feeling, but as you can see from my pictures in bright sunlight, you can’t see a thing through it.
Trust me when I say I am PICKY when it comes to white shirts and this one worried me a bit when I took it out of the package.
I purposely wore a colored bra just to see how bad it would show through.? Can’t tell, can you?
I won’t be wearing this shirt at the marathon (costume, duh!), but I will be using it as a weekly training shirt.
I love how you can put your name on it, though.? It makes a perfect race shirt for this very reason!? I absolutely love when volunteers and spectators shout encouragement to me on the course using my first name.
I, of course, like to pretend they all read my blog and just recognize me from here… but we can be honest.
They are reading my bib.
Imagine the cries of GO PATTY GO and YOU CAN DO IT DISBROAD PATTY that would be heard as we make our way through all four Walt Disney World parks in January.
Plastering your name all over your body can’t be a bad idea in case of emergency, either, right?
Just sayin’…
Thanks, Gone For a Run for my inspiration shirt.? The Great Goofy Quest is off to a fine start!
Do you have a favorite running saying on a shirt?? If you could create your own, what would it say?
