Race To Disneyland Haul-O-Ween in Cars Land | Disneyland Halloween
I’ve got Cars on the mind after a trip last year to Disneyland, where Cars Land was transformed for Haul-O-Ween.
Because Disneyland is my favorite place ever, I am over the moon excited about the recent changes to the parks.
Whaaaat? Shenanigans, you surprise us with this new information!
Yeah, I know; the fact that Disneyland is my favorite is not exactly news. What you may not know, however, is that I have a preferred time of year to visit.
I’ve long held that Halloween at Disneyland is the ultimate time to go. It’s especially perfect for a first-time Disneyland visit.
The big pumpkin decorations, Space Mountain: Ghost Galaxy, Haunted Mansion Holiday, and Oogie Boogie Bash have always made it a special time to visit.
When the powers that be decided to extend Halloween to Disney California Adventure and Cars Land, I just knew I needed to see it!
I’m so excited that Haul-O-Ween is coming back for Disneyland Halloween 2023!
Disney California Adventure Halloween
From the entrance to the park, where Oogie Boogie greets you, to the attractions with unique Halloween overlays, Disney California Adventure’s decorations team scared up a win.
It felt a little more spooky than the Disneyland side, and I loved it.
I was stupidly excited about this photo op with the Headless Horseman.
The colors used around the park were deep purples and bright orange, which gave such a cool creepy vibe.
The sunset got in on the act as well!
Lots of bats were used as accents around the park.
I was digging it!
I even caught a flock of bats flying out of the Carthy Circle.
Okay, so they were just birds, but it was so well timed it *could* have been bats and at Disneyland, I wouldn’t put it past them to plus the magic that way!
Cars Land Haul-O-Ween
For us Halloween lovers, Cars Land was the place to be!
Or Haul-O-Ween, if you will. Radiator Screams is a ton of fun for your whole Halloween at Disneyland-loving family!
Not only does the entire land transform for the season, but two Cars Land attractions will as well.
Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters became Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween.
We rode this one just after the sun went down and I giggled through the entire dance.
Halloween songs in Italian just struck me as funny.
Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree became Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree.
Since Mater is one of my boys, I knew I’d have a great time spinning around this one. And (spoiler alert) I totally did.
The festivities continued throughout the shops as well.
With a nod to Ramone’s heritage and Disney Pixar’s COCO, the Day of the Dead, marigolds and a sugar car (named Sugar) decorated the outside of Ramone’s House of Body Art.
There was quite the line to get a picture with Sugar, and I’m sure she appreciates the attention.
Disney California Adventure Halloween Food
Our crew made a pit stop at Flo’s V8 Cafe for dinner.
We bought all the Instagram-worthy specialty foods we found.
Mini Candy Cone Pie and the Car-achnid Pot Pie were two big hits with our group.
Cars Meet and Greet In Radiator Screams
The Cars characters also donned their “car-stumes” and greeted guests at the Cozy Cone.
We managed to catch Mater (dressed as a van-pire) and Mater driving by (dressed as a superhero).
I love it when Disney puts those special touches on their already fantastic themed lands.
Cars Land Haul-O-Ween ranks right up there as an immersive experience for me as Haunted Mansion Holiday.
So well done!
Guardians of the Galaxy Monsters After Dark
The details put into Disney California Adventure for Halloween are just too much fun! While most of the Halloween experience was featured in Cars Land, I can’t skip over this great addition.
The new Guardians of the Galaxy attraction also received an overlay of sorts for the season.
I love this ride which features an all-new 1970s-style punk rock song, Monsters After Dark, written by Tyler Bates, the composer for the Guardians of the Galaxy films.
From Disney:
As the sun sets, the attraction?s exterior goes dark and then suddenly powers back up with lighting effects, a signal that something has gone awry. The Guardians have successfully escaped The Collector’s Fortress, but have accidentally left Groot behind. Guests will help Rocket distract the creatures that have been released so he can find and rescue Groot in this exciting seasonal overlay.
Even if you don’t ride, you might want to take a peek into the Lobby where alarms were blaring, warning guests that creatures have escaped at the Collector’s Fortress.
Super creepy set up which leads to an awesomely crazy ride.
I love Cars Land and it’s awesome Halloween overlay!
Be sure to check it out this year- Halloween runs from September 1 to October 31.
