Real Talk, Real Results | 28-Days of Olay

Sharing is caring!

This post is sponsored by Olay and Walmart through Acorn Influence. I participated in the 28-Days of Olay skin study. Opinions and results are all my own.?

Women, let’s have some real talk here.

We all have our “thing” that we aren’t happy with when it comes to our appearance.

You might not like that your arms are too skinny or that your feet are the size of pontoon boats. Crooked teeth or stubby eyelashes. Maybe it’s your hair that’s too curly/straight/long/short/brown whatever.

I don’t think I’m alone when I say we look in the mirror and sometimes go: meh. We can be pretty critical of our own looks!

Busted! Caught myself being hyper-critical in a video shoot.

This is me- especially when I look closely at my skin.

My entire life I’ve had crazy stupid dry skin that does not promise to age well. And now that I’m, well, actually… AGING… GAH! It’s not looking or feeling too great.

Growing up in the late 70s and early 80s before 50 SPF was the norm didn’t help, nor did spending a lot of time outside without proper protection or moving to the arid desert of Arizona for a few years.

Those sunrises, tho! Almost makes up for the lack of moisture in my skin. Almost.

After drying my skin out in the AZ, we made another move- to the cold temps of Virginia- that caused another bit of trauma to my skin.

I’m like Goldilocks over here: it can’t be too hot and it can’t be too cold. My skin needs things to be just right, or err on the side of moisture if anything.

I’m strangely looking forward to a “little” humidity this summer (remind me I said that, ok?!).

28-Days of Olay

I participated in a 28-day skin study with Oil of Olay as part of a program sponsored by Walmart.

I went in with low expectations: honestly, Olay, I wasn’t sure you had it in you. I’ve spent 40+ years living in this skin and I haven’t been able to find the right products.

Oh, I’ve tried to find them. I feel like I gave them all a shot. From the high end to the low end on cost and was never able to hit on the right moisturizer for me.

Until now, that is. Turns out I didn’t have the right tools.

Olay Skin Advisor Tool

How did I find happiness in my own skin? I started with a simple tool on my mobile phone.

On day 1 of the 28-days of Olay study, I snapped a photo of myself without makeup and uploaded it to the Skin Advisor.

It analyzed my skin color, eye lines, wrinkles, etc and gave me an age estimate. Yikes.

Let’s just say, I am younger than I look and leave it at that. Ahem.

So now what do we do to correct this (in my opinion) rather big issue?

Oil of Olay Product Recommendations

The Skin Advisor suggested a few products specific to what it saw in my picture.

I thought the suggestions sounded about right for me: Olay Luminous Miracle Boost Concentrate, Olay Regenerist Microsculpting EyeSwirl, and Olay Luminous Tone Perfecting Creme.

I picked all three up at Walmart in the beauty aisle.

For 28-days I used these products twice a day in my new beauty routine.

After washing my face, I applied the miracle boost?concentrate, then the eyeswirl, and finally the tone perfecting creme.

It was simple, took about 5 minutes every morning and every night, and felt a little luxurious.

5-minutes for Mom to take care of herself? Say it ain’t so!

Results of the 28-Day Study

My results were subtle at first. It took about 21-days for me to say, yeah, I feel ya, Olay!

I noticed that my always-dry face looked and felt better right away, however. I started counting this project as a win by day 3 when I was no longer flakey and dry.

After a week I could see the fine lines around my eyes disappearing a bit.

After 14 days I started to love how my face looked and felt.

My skin feels moisturized all day and is softer to the touch. This is HUGE, y’all!

I absolutely love the?Olay Luminous Tone Perfecting Creme and wonder how I did not have this in my life before.

My makeup goes on smoother too, which means I don’t have to use as much foundation as I was using before.

So now I have one less “thing” to be critical about. My proverbial 99 problems don’t include a dry flakey face anymore.

I’m super happy with the results and added the products to my monthly health & beauty grocery list.

Hey, I’ll be at Walmart anyway, I might as well pick some up, amirite?

What would you like to see change in your skin care routine? Are you up to the #28daysofOlay study?
