Recovery is one of the biggest issues runners face, especially runners who are trying to participate in the runDisney Dopey challenge. Sarah found a new runner BFF: the Roll Recovery R8. She swears by it and thinks it is something you’ll want to check out! Here’s her Roll Recovery R8 review. She recieved the Roll Recovery R8 in exchange for sharing her review.

When I was in Orlando for the Dopey Challenge in January – we had our second annual “family dinner” the night before the marathon.
This is the night where my BFF Beth and her husband Shane cook the perfect pre-race feast, and we all sit around and chit-chat while mildly freaking out we’re running a marathon the next morning.
It’s something I reeeeeally look forward to (and hope they do again next year!)
This year, their friend Deb was in town for the festivities as well, and she introduced me to my NEW best friend.
She pulled out this big old piece of equipment and started rolling it up and down her legs. I was immediately intrigued.
Deb started talking to me about this Roll Recovery R8 – she got it at the expo – and she let me try it.
After about 3 minutes I was SOLD.
I had to have one. So, as soon as I got home, I reached out to Roll Recovery because of how much I loved the product.
Now I have one of my very own to show you how wonderful it is!
Roll Recovery R8: Review
I am just now really starting to understand and respect the recovery aspect of training – however, that does not help me figure out how to use a foam roller.
I never feel like I get the full benefits, and I just look like a fool.
My favorite part of the Roll Recovery R8 is how easy it is.
It also self-adjusts – so I don’t have to worry about being strong enough to put the right pressure in the right place to get the full benefits.
It is incredibly simple to have a very deep tissue massage – and it doesn’t hurt as bad as you’d think it would.
You can use it standing, sitting, laying down… you don’t have to be in any specific position in order to use it properly.
Roll Recovery R8: Features
Patent-pending design provides all the force for a deep tissue massage.
Guys – the thing I hate most about foam rolling is trying to get enough pressure to make a difference.
I have the upper body strength of a kitten and it’s just too difficult for me. The way this is built, I don’t have to worry about that anymore!
It takes the “work” out of rolling. Yes, yes, yes.
I don’t have to think about anything when I do it. No special technique – you just roll!
Compact design for easy travel and transport. Kind of. I mean, it’s easy enough to toss in your gym bag, but it better be a bigger gym bag.
I don’t see myself taking this one with me to the gym, however, I will absolutely be bringing it with me for out-of-town races!
Easy to use standing, sitting, or laying (no more rolling on the floor). This is probably my most favorite of the features.
I can do it while watching TV.
Or while I’m standing in the kitchen waiting for a pot of water to boil.
Or upstairs when I’m laying in bed binge-watching something stupid on Netflix.
I don’t have to have a “routine” – I can just roll and immediately feel the benefits.
FDA Registered Medical Device. Cool.
Helps improve circulation, break up muscle adhesions and reduce inflammation. Now that I am officially dealing with bursitis and issues with inflammation – I’m counting on this thing to help me out!! I can tell you right now that when my hip hurts, just a few minutes of rolling makes a HUGE difference.
Roll Recovery R8: Where to Buy
The Roll Recovery folks were at the Walt Disney World Marathon Expo, and I’m hoping they’ll be back next year!
Unfortunately, they do not have plans to be there for the Princess Expo.
If you’re like me and just can’t wait until the next expo – head over to their website to order today!
Click Here to order your R8 – and right now they’re offering Free Shipping over $100 for US customers.
Roll Recovery R8: Tips & Tricks
Here are a few videos you can watch to see why everyone (including me) is so excited about it.
And of course, it helps substantially if you have my little Olivia around…
So tell me – do you think you’ll give it a shot? Do you have a favorite recovery tool that you swear by? I’d love to hear all about it!!

Sarah is a minivan driving, coffee drinking, runDisney running, business owning, Netflix watching, mother of two little girls. She married her big burly husband, Brandon, 8 years ago in a small chapel in Maui. Then she had 2 babies in 2 years – Evelyn and Olivia. She lives way too close to her parents, and her toenails are always painted red.
I have one but don’t use it too much. Too painful! 🙂
I tried this one time and I think my thighs are just too… powerful. I didn’t like how it felt. But I know several people who swear by it, so I’m probably the weird one LOL.
I would totally try it. Seems like it would zero in better on spots than the foam roller. But I do love my foam roller 😉
I have a Roll Recovery and I love it! Its so much easier to use than a foam roller. I still use the foam roller for certain areas but this is so much more convenient since I can do it without having to get down on the floor!
I would be tempted to get this because I am still struggling to get the knack of my foam roller!
I’ve heard great things about the Roll Recovery! I do foam roll but this looks like it might get other areas.
I have seen this gadget before, but don’t have one in my collection…yet. It looks effective!
I never end up foam rolling either. Maybe if I had one of these it would be much easier. I wish they were a bit cheaper though.
This seems to be the only one I don’t have. I have a foam roller, lacrosse ball, the Stick, and Adadday.
I want to try this! I have been trying to foam roll more frequently lately but I don’t ever feel like I’m doing it “right.”
I have one, but I don’t use it a whole lot. I use the stick more often.
That looks like a crazy torture device! haha! But, I can totally see the benefit of it. I especially like that it eliminates the need to roll around on the floor – that’s really one of my least favorite parts. Probably because I have a dog who’s very interested in what I’m doing. lol
I love my Roll Recovery! It feels so great on my legs!
Thanks for the article post.Really thank you! Great.
