Spring Training always makes me think baseball. Then I get sad that the Texas Rangers don’t do Spring Training at Disney. Sigh.
My “training” is going okay? I guess? I don’t have any official training program I am currently following right now. I’m in “half marathon shape” and keeping my race schedule packed.
I do have a few fun things going on right now that I’d love to touch base on!
Upcoming Half Marathons
Fairview Half – April 14th! I signed up for this one last minute, a girl in my Moms Run This Town group posted that she couldn’t make it, and wanted to transfer her bib.?I keep hearing great things about this race and am really looking forward to the course.
The last time I ran in Fairview it was for my 32nd birthday. I was in the middle of my heart rate training and ended up pushing myself a little too much. I was sore for a good?week?after that race!
Star Wars Dark Side 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon – April 19-22! I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THIS WEEKEND! I’m meeting up with Patty (YAY!) as well as Meghan, another travel agent We’re going to do a little work and have a little team bonding before the races start.
I’m going to run the 5K with Patty, and then my Dad is meeting up with me to run the 10K and Half.? I’ll also be running with Izzy – my favorite Orlando local and BRF!

…
and guys, that’s it until fall! I’m looking for ideas for this summer, I will probably knock out a few 5Ks just for fun, but nothing major once the weather starts to get hot! Considering adding in one more Rock n Roll race, just can’t decide which one!
Run Streak
If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you know I have implemented a little “one mile per day” run streak.
Join me – use the hashtag #noguiltrunstreak – it’s fun I swear!
I’ve been doing really well getting in at least one mile per day. Some days I walk, some days I run, but it’s been the perfect motivation to get off the couch and moving again.
Currently, I’m on a boat. My husband and I are on our first vacation away from the kids, and I’m making sure to still get in that mile every single day!
Run The Edge
Our team is killin’ it! Well, kind of.
I mean, we’re a little bit behind where we “should” be if we were going to knock out all the miles evenly. I think we need to get around 170 miles per month, and so far we have not hit that goal.
My goal is to make April a great one – especially since this summer the mileage will most likely be pretty low! I am also hoping that a good fall race schedule will be the key to adding in those miles.
Your Advice Needed!
Okay – here’s where I need?your help!
Spring Training has been bland, but I’m in a good spot. I am really starting to get nervous about this summer though. I want to do something this summer to help build my strength, without worrying about long runs in 100-degree weather.
Do any of you have a great workout plan you suggest?
I’m open to anything – even been considering that Beach Body 80 Day thing…
I want to do something fun, NOT terribly time consuming, and great for runners!
… I also wanted to thank everyone for participating in the link up!? I’ve been having a lot of fun and learned a lot reading comments and other blog posts. The internet is really a fun place, and I have you guys to thank for that!!

Patty Holliday is a Marvel loving, Disney obsessed wife, and mother of four. She’s a travel agent specializing in Disney & Universal vacations- and loves a candid confession. Find her in Virginia (or anywhere frequent flyer miles or her trusty minivan takes her.)

I have one short spring race coming up on April 14th. It is only an 11k. Other than that I don’t have much on my schedule this spring nor summer. I have tried that run streak from Thanksgiving to New Years. I did it but don’t think I would do it again. Not until Thanksgiving at least….haha.

Your upcoming races sound like fun! I don’t have anything else on the schedule right now but I am eyeing a couple more 5ks in May. Then i need to figure out if I want to do a fall race! I feel like the summer is a good time for short races like 5ks.

I have a few races coming up in April in May. Looks there isn’t anything in June but for now only in July. Then it is marathon training for MCM.

No advice for summer training–It’s a challenge–except to just do it!

Your upcoming races sound amazing! You have a great race schedule. My spring training is going well. My “monster” race (it’s only a 25k) is coming up in less than 2 weeks. I am very nervous going into this race. I love the idea of a no-guilt run streak. I am going to join. Thanks for the opportunity!

Great idea to build your strength this summer! I like indoor workouts/dvds for cross training- I like to do a mix of Jillian Michaels (No more trouble zones) or Ignite with Nikki… I hear good things about the 80 day BB one, too.
Enjoy your trip away!

Are you aware I’m running Boston? I’m not sure. Don’t think I’ve mentioned it more than once or twice – hah!
I do have major FOMO from Star Wars and I don’t even really like Star Wars – I just want to play in parks eat everything at flower garden and see you guys!

I always took the Texas summers off from training because the oven was on, and wouldn’t turn off until Halloween. I focused a lot on strength work, whether at home or doing Pure Barre classes.

I’ve gotta admit, I’m totally envious that you’re running the Star Wars!!! I’ve always that that those races look like so much fun!

How about Orange Theory? I just joined last month and it’s great (indoor, air conditioned) exercise. Each class is different and incorporates cardio and weights. With a package the per-class cost can be very reasonable.

Your upcoming races sound like a lot of fun! And enjoy your run streak – my calves always rebel whenever I attempt to do one!
