Sum It Up Sunday
I’m up early this Sunday with a long list of things to do. ?So of course I’m going to avoid all that work type stuff and blog. ?You guys are WAY more fun to hang around with than the laundry, the dishes, and the bathrooms that all need cleaning.
Let’s sum it up Sunday!
It’s October
In case you missed the Facebook announcement, October is here.
Did you see those pictures posted everywhere last week?
I asked about this on my personal Facebook page, as I had no idea why we are announcing “It’s September” and now “It’s October” via Facebook. ?It seemed like a silly trend to me.
No fear- my friends set me straight. ?I learned about the wonders of Anne of Green Gables, the fabulous book (they tell me) that created this quote
And, no, I haven’t read the books or watched the show/movie. ?Girl fail! ?I’ll see if I can make that happen before the next October though. ?I’m a slow reader these days.
I also had friends chime in with why October deserved it’s own celebration: ?Halloween, cooler temps, racing season, pumpkin everything!
So hey- yay October!
Running
There’s mixed news to report here.
On one hand, it’s going well. ?I am staying consistent with mileage, following the Galloway plan for the Avengers Half Marathon. ?Yesterday was my first real long run since last February.
Wow- that’s a long time for me to go without running double digits! ?I just realized that as I typed it.
It wasn’t bad. ?Not fast, but training runs aren’t supposed to be, right? ?In theory, I’ll be 2 minutes per mile faster on race day.
Ha. ?I have never been 2 minutes per mile faster on race day. ?So I expect to see a similar result when I run the Avengers Half in November.
I also ran with a friend! ?Kinda.
DisBroad Tania in Dallas called while we were both running. ?It was pretty funny to me since she is about 6 minutes per mile faster than me and three states away, but we ran together.
We talked for a mile; then she said she’d check back in 2 hours.
Lesson learned for my next long run: ?when you are feeling sluggish, phone a friend! ?It was enough distraction and entertainment that I was able to overlook some of the issues I was having that morning. ?Plus it’s always fun to talk with people I love.
And now the bad news. ?That “other hand”.
My IT Band is acting up again. ?Or bursitis is setting in. ?Or both.
Yay. ?/sarcasm
This is what happens when I mess with my intervals too much. ?I remember this little fact about my body after the damage has begun, of course. ?I need to stick to 30-second runs, but I was trying out 15-second runs. ?Apparently too much starting and stopping makes my leg cranky and I aggravate my injury.
It hurts enough to know it’s there, but not enough to make me feel like I shouldn’t run on it. ?I know, I know… runner logic. ?I’m trying to get in with a PT this week to start working on it again.
In the mean time:
Disney Annual Pass Update
If you have an AP or planned on buying one, be sure to check out my friends Tania & Janice at An Open Suitcase.
They have the update on the new Annual Pass prices… that went into effect TODAY.
The good news? ?You get Photo Pass pictures included with many of the Annual Pass options. ?As a picture lover, this is fantastic! ?Moms & Dads, you can BOTH be in all the pictures now- price included in your Annual Pass. ?I love this perk!
And the prices have gone up, natch.
The Week Ahead
I’ve got a fun trip planned for me and my littlest, #OhLucy.
We scored tickets?to the Disney Parks Blog Mickey?s Halloween Party Meet-Up at Disneyland Park. ?I love Halloween at Disney, and #OhLucy loves dressing up, so we are a perfect pair to take on this fun event.
She chose Snow White, so I get to be the Evil Queen. ?Full costume reveals on the blog tomorrow! ?I created a runner friendly version that I can wear to Princess Half Marathon this year, as well as a regular costume version for the event.
I’m also working on Periscope with Purpose with Blog Clarity.? Every day a new scope topic is provided. ?It’s been a lot of fun so far, and I hope you get a chance to tune into my scopes.
Here’s the link- be sure to follow me on Twitter and Periscope this month. ?It’s going to be fun!
Division Champions
I need to give a HUGE shout out to my son, Luke, and his school soccer team. ?Division Champs!
Thanks to a clutch penalty kick stop by our goalie (in the last 30 seconds of the game no less!) the boys took home the first championship?for this school in over four years.
It feels GOOD to be a soccer mom again, and Luke said he had a blast out there on the field. ?Next up: ?flag football.
That’s a peek into my week- how is yours looking?
