Sum It Up Sunday | Back to School Edition

Sharing is caring!

So here we go with this again. ?I’m going to sum up the week gone by in my life, ideally every Sunday. ?Because the title is just dumb when you try to use it on Monday, amiright?

SIUSNothing to it but to do it, as the kids say… here we go.

Back To School Success

Kids first week at school: ?wonderful.

The older kids like their teachers, are making friends, and are basically happy to be back in class.

Summer: ?You are OVAH and we don’t even miss ya. ?Huzzah!

We tried something new with #OhLucy. ?She’s staying at school a little longer than she did last year. ?Next year she goes to kinder and I wanted to get her used to a longer day.

Good news: ?she loves it.

Bad news: ?the longer day isn’t really a longer day since the extra time at school is spent NAPPING.

I didn’t quite realize that until the 2nd day. ?Huh. ?An extra $60 a month spent so she can… nap… at school.

I’m not sure the math quite adds up to making this “worth it” but she is actually sleeping, which is better than what she’s doing at home. ?I suppose if I want her to keep napping consistently for one more year (and I do- I think it makes the evenings much less crazy), I should just embrace this and let her stay.

But it still feels weird to pay for her nap time.

Parents: what would you do?

Soccer Mom (I hope) Again

Before we moved to Arizona my kids were all about soccer. ?With the change came something I wasn’t as thrilled with- ?baseball.

Bah. ?It’s just not my jam.

But they do enjoy it.

The three older kids have expressed interest in soccer this year, so I’m hoping to get them back into the cleats soon.

Luke is mid-tryout for his school team as the goalie with one more day to go. ?He’s not likely to get the position due to missing the first day of tryouts (he needed a physical and didn’t realize it. ?Duuuuddddeeee…) but said the tryouts went well.

Fingers crossed!

In a Groove

I’m feeling really good this week about a lot of things: ?weight loss, activity, sleep, training, nutrition. ?Everything is clicking, and I LOVE IT.

FitBit and My Fitness Pal are helping me out.

I’ve had a FitBit before and I liked watching the numbers. ?But I also hated it because it was just steps and didn’t give me a real indication on the effort I was giving.

FitBit

The new Charge HR seems to be on the right track for me. ?When I run 10K steps it shows a calorie burn greater than when I walk 10K steps thanks to the heart rate monitor on my wrist. ?I have the band linked to My Fitness Pal and it’s helping me track the appropriate amount of food for my activity level.

On days I don’t run, I’m walking to feed the FitBit numbers. ?In other words: my activity is on target now.

I’m solidly on track for the Avengers training which is my next half marathon.

Food: ?I’ve got this. ?I’ve gone back to my Atkins-like roots and am eating much more in the fruits and veggies and protein realm. ?It all tastes good and I feel good when I’m eating better. ?The sad summer slump is gone!

Those non-scale victories are fabulous, but I’m also working on losing the weight. ?And succeeding.

happy db

Bam- I’m on track to win my DietBet too.

It was a good motivation to get started and I may roll over to another one soon after this ends. ?I’ll keep you posted.

D23 Expo

I’m leaving early Friday for a quick weekend trip full of Disney goodness. ?Be on the look out for live reports, videos and posts straight from the expo floor.D23 expo

I’m also trying to pull off a Disney Bound outfit. ?My first time, if you can imagine.

Hoping it works out like I envision it.

Katie K Active Sale

This one ends today. ?You need to use the code Patty40 for 40% off and free shipping- go for it!

Katie K Active?is where you want to land to shop. ?Activewear for ladies Small through 3 XL. ?Love mine!

Alright- that’s enough from me today. I’m off for a long run, church, and spending the day with family.

How was your week? ?Are you Back to School yet?

We have one more week of summer school. Real school starts the day after Labor Day, which itself is kind of late this year. I'll be at D23 on Saturday.

I totally paid for nap time. Still got my little ones on a school-type schedule and gave us some extra time for whatever needed to happen. The only time we didn't pay was when the kids weren't actually napping and the preschool didn't have a playtime option at the same time.
