Spoiler alert: I haven’t had this much fun on a race course in a very long time.
The Inaugural Captain America 10K turned out to be the perfect day for me. It combined some of my favorite things: good friends, tons of selfies, gorgeous weather, Captain America and Disneyland. Oh… and some running.
I even set a PR: longest course I’ve run in recent months without a single complaint.
We had so much fun I couldn’t find anything to moan or groan about for 6.2 miles. Success!
There were so many great pictures that I decided to put them all together in a video recap.
This one left me smiling ear to ear and I’m still grinning like a fool when I look at these pictures.
The course is the same one we run for the Disneyland 10K.
It’s pretty much agreed in the runDisney circles that this is the best 10K, nay, best runDisney course EVER.
You run the first 2 miles outside the parks. That’s nice for the middle to the back of the pack since it allows things to thin out before you hit the narrow park streets.
As far as characters, four to five seems to be a good amount for this particular 10K.
We had four out that day: Black Widow, Hawkeye, Thor and Captain America. The cast members wore SHIELD Academy shirts (that I want… I mean, really, who do I need to beg to get one of those shirts?). I love how the theme carried through the parks with those touches.
But could we stand to see a one more or maybe different characters over the weekend? Yes, yes we could.
My friend Tania had a great suggestion on her race recap. She’s a nut. Anyway…
This is my favorite race to date. No question. And certainly one I’ll do again.
It was the most organized of any event I’ve participated in through runDisney as well. Score one for pulling off a great inaugural race, guys! And not that I’m looking to PR anytime soon (and not at Disney anyway- way too many distractions for me!) this would be an easy one to PR if that’s your plan. It’s flat and fast, plus there’s usually great weather in November.
Did you run the Captain America 10K? What did you think about this race?
