Thor: Ragnarok Red Carpet Premiere Experience | #ThorRagnarokEvent
Here’s a fun fact about me. When I am stupidly excited about something, I tend to gloss over “little” details— like the fact that the THOR: RAGNAROK red carpet premiere experience was included in my #ThorRagnarokEvent press trip.
I didn’t actually discover (i.e., read) that part until hours later.
It’s a good thing I opened and read that email at least eleventy-billion times because, eventually, I think I got all the details down.
Ahem.
Imagine my surprise when I discovered I would have the experience that I’ve dreamed about since I was a little kid.
You might have heard the uber-girlie scream of delight as I chanted RED CARPET! RED CARPET! RED CARPET! over and over.
I had no idea what to truly expect from this event, other than what I saw on E! red carpet coverage, of course.
Here’s what happened at the THOR: RAGNAROK red carpet premiere through the eyes of a Hollywood red carpet newbie.
THOR: RAGNAROK Red Carpet Premiere Experience
When I announced on Facebook that I was going to have this experience, one of my friends from high school said she’d line up with the fans and yell my name- Patty! You’re fabulous! Who are you wearing?
After I laughed at the silly suggestion, things got real.
Gulp. Wearing? Um, yeah, I forgot about that part. Since nothing appropriate was casually hanging in the closet, off to shop I went!
I haven’t had to go “fancy dress shopping” since 2002 (#momlife and all that), but I lucked out and found two dresses I loved almost immediately.
Ultimately I chose the one I’d feel most confident and comfortable in and loved walking the red carpet in this.
Walking the THOR: RAGNAROK Red Carpet
We were dropped off a few blocks away from the security entrance and made our way over to get in line.
I was looking around like my head was on a swivel, trying to take in every element of this event from the start.
One fun detail for me happened when I looked down to discover we were on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
It may sound silly to some, but it wasn’t until that moment that it hit me where I was.
In Hollywood.
At a red carpet premiere.
Holy wow!
We quickly made it through security and with a gentle reminder to take it all in (and to take our time if we could) we started the red carpet walk.
To answer the first question: YES, it really was a RED carpet.
I had a red carpet buddy, Heidi, who held my hand and ushered me through the experience.
She pointed out where the stars were, posed me for my red carpet shot, and made sure I didn’t sprint down the aisle in my excitement.
We were on one side of a roped off area, the stars were walking down the middle, and on the far side was press and fans.
We arrived at the perfect time.
I saw all the big stars of the movie make their way down the center and toward the theater.
So, yes, I was basically walking the red carpet with Tom Hiddleston.
In addition to seeing Tom (we are that tight now, I call him Tom), I also saw Cate Blanchett, Mark Ruffalo, Lou Ferrigno, and the God of Thunder himself, Chris Hemsworth.
The air had electricity in it, full of excitement oozing from everyone around me, including the stars who radiated joy.
They all seemed to have a genuine connection with each other and looked excited about watching the film.
Stars: they are just like us!
At the end of the carpet, Marvel had this fantastic set-up that was just begging for pictures.
And the bloggers obliged!
A kind Disney PR rep saw us trying to get a picture. She stepped in and made sure it happened.
Boom! That’s how you do it!
After this shot, we made it inside the El Capitan Theatre where the movie would premiere.
According to the time, it all went by very quickly but I know I was milking every second I had on that lovely red carpet.
I felt like I spent an hour out there, but that was not accurate. I’d guess 20-30 minutes tops.
Inside the El Capitan Theatre At the Thor: Ragnarok Red Carpet Premiere
Since I’d never been to Hollywood before, I had obviously never been inside the El Capitan before either! This was another all-new experience for me, and I loved it.
This theater is small but gorgeous. And steeped in Hollywood history.
I couldn’t help but wonder who else had sat in my front row seat before me.
Oh, did I not mention that? FRONT ROW, baby!
See my purple dress in the front row of seats? Yes, I’m the dork waving while everyone else is clapping.
We watched as all the talent and crew from the movie came on stage.
From this vantage point, I made eye contact with Tom Hiddleston, and we had a moment.
Yeah, I died. But I thankfully came back around in time to watch the movie.
After the brief introductions and a quick hello from Marvel President, Kevin Feige, the stars were ushered off stage and to their seats.
Some of them walked right in front of us, and I managed to say, “Hi Mark!” which you might have caught on Mark Ruffalo’s Instagram Live— before he had to delete it since he accidentally live streamed 10 minutes of the movie!
Oops.
Guys. This whole experience was indeed everything I hoped it would be. I couldn’t stop smiling the entire night!
It was just surreal being so close to all these Marvel legends and realizing we were all going to watch this movie together.
My only regret was not sitting close enough to Chris Hemsworth to share popcorn.
Ah well- another time, perhaps!
After the movie, we ended the night posing on the famous Oscar steps, where the stars walk up and into the Dolby Theatre to receive their awards.
You can say it- I did.
Daaayyymmmn we are a good looking group!
THOR: RAGNAROK opens in theaters nationwide on November 3!
