Three Running Wishes | Tuesdays on the Run

Tuesdays on the Run Link Up- every Tuesday we have a new running related topic. Join your favorite running bloggers in linking up each week.

One of my favorite Disney characters is the Genie from Aladdin. Three wishes is the typical Genie offer, right?

Let’s say you ran into a running Genie. What would your three running wishes be?

Don’t forget to link up with Erika, Marcia and me this week.

Three Running Wishes

Gosh, I don’t know about this.

I guess the obvious three would be to be naturally fleet & fast, to be uber competitive, and to be sponsored (so I could run all the Disney my heart desired).

But honestly, I don’t think I’d wish for any of that.

Wish number one would be to fall in love with running again and to stay in love— but Genie can’t make anyone fall in love.

So that bites.

Instead, I’ll start with another obvious one: health. I want to remain healthy of mind and body to keep running as long as I want to stay out there. No injuries, please! And no mental breakdowns that keep me from getting out there consistently.

I’d also go ahead and ask for a little speed because, frankly, this girl has lost all of what she once had. Which wasn’t a whole lot.

I’m not greedy; I’ll take a consistent, steady 12-13 minute pace and consider myself #blessed for years to come. Running has always been more social for me than speed related, so I’m good taking my time on the course!

And lastly, I’ll take some nice looking legs. I’ve always thought mine were stubby and short. I would love a few inches in length, to be honest. Again, I don’t need legs for days, but say, 2-3 more inches of them?

Yep. That would do.

What are your three running wishes?

  • Awwww, Genie is one of my Disney favorites, too (and Lumiere, of course).

I love this post. My running wishes will probably revolve around running injury and pain free. And then if Ihad another wish it would be to be able to run any race I wanted for free!

  • staying healthy is a BIG one! I would love to love running forever and be that old lady that still shows up for the races. I am with you, I don’t have to be super fast- let’s just have some fun with it!

  • Health is tops on my list too! If I’m not feeling good, nothing is happening on the road.

  • The Genie is one of my favorite characters too! I would definitely wish to have a faster pace…and maybe he can hook me up with lots of cute running gear!

  • I’m with you on the legs (I’m 5’1″) — nothing to do with running, really, just that it would make life so much simpler — and maybe jeans would fit me without having to be hemmed or rolled up.

People who are just of average (or slightly fast) speed don’t get why some runners want to be faster — to be able to actually run with other people! I totally get that though.

  • HoHo Runs says:

Health is definitely number one! It’s funny, I’ve never liked my legs either. I always wanted cute knees (duh–why didn’t I wish for that?). But, at least they do the job. Unlimited Disney races would be awesome! Thanks for the linkup.

  • Lesley says:

I would like to be faster, but one thing at a time. I used to be faster, but I also didn’t have to worry about injuries that would slow me down. I’m working with what I have, and that’s fine.

  • Megan says:

Since we are wishing, after all, I’d go with being sponsored — free gear, running as a job, etc. Haha! This was a fun topic, thanks for hosting!

  • Jenn says:

    Genies shouldn’t have rules!

I wished for speed, the ability to breathe properly again and money for races and run related stuff. Because that ish is expensive!

  • I definitely agree on the health wish! How great would it be if we could run what we wanted without anything getting in the way?

  • Jessica S says:

I agree all around! Great wishes! I especially agree with the health one – it would be great to never worry about those things again.

  • vicki says:

Oh… I didn’t think about more length in the legs… that would be a good one! I’m 5’1/2″ and never did reach my dream height of 5’4″ 🙂

  • Madhuri says:

I love your wishes! Health of body and mind (especially) is so important for all aspects of life. I would be so humbled the day I can do a 12-13 mm pace. #newbierunner

  • I would definitely take an extra few inches on these sort legs of mine! That’s a great wish!

p.s I can no longer comment on your blog via my phone or my ipad (which I always use to comment on blogs). For some reason your commenting system only shows up when i am on my PC. Therefore it may take me a few days to get to your TOTR posts (sorry). Unless I can figure out whats going on.

Hope you are having a blast at PHM weekend!

    • patty says:

Ahhh- thanks for the heads up Meranda! I did turn off my JetPack feature, which is the only major change lately. That might be affecting comments. And please, no worries on TOTR. I just love that you ladies participate every week! 🙂
