The rumors are true: Universal Orlando confirms new Harry Potter coaster coming in 2019.

The Hogsmeade section of Universal’s Islands of Adventure will lose the Dragon Challenge in order to make room for this new, redefined thrill ride.

The last day to ride the Dragon Coaster will be September 4th, so get those last flights in!

Dragon Coaster makes way for new Harry Potter coaster at Universal Orlando

Universal Orlando promises that this coaster will be unlike anything we’ve seen before:

  • This all-new thrill ride will take you deeper into J.K. Rowling?s Wizarding World, where you will encounter some of your favorite characters and creatures. It?ll be unlike anything?we?ve ever done before?and?it will be fun for the entire family.
  • The new attraction will be one of the?most highly-themed coaster experiences?we?ve created. It will?combine?a new level of storytelling?with an action-packed adventure?and a few surprises along the way.
  • Our award-winning Universal Creative team is once again collaborating with Warner Bros. and the production design team from the Harry Potter films?to bring this new coaster experience to life.
  • This ride is going to redefine the category and transport you to thrilling places, drawing you into even more?exciting adventures?within the wizarding world. It?s going to be the perfect addition to Hogsmeade.

It’s been a good week to be a Harry Potter fan with J.K. Rowling announcing two new books and this new immersive coaster coming to Universal Orlando Resort.

While it’s always sad to say goodbye to an attraction that’s been around for a while, I have to celebrate that Universal is continuing to add to this section of the park with the new Harry Potter coaster.

I know I’ll be getting my ticket on board the?Hogwarts Express to school when this one opens!
