Last week I got this interesting email from the producers of What Moves You? I’m sharing it here in the hopes that it might speak to one of you! In short- they are looking for runners for their new documentary film, What Moves You? Could they be looking for YOU?
I’m not affiliated with the movie, I’m just sharing this information to the running community.
Hello Patty,
I am writing to you in my capacity as Executive Producer of the documentary film ?What Moves You?? The film follows five very different runners as it delves into the biological and cultural forces that motivate people to choose running as a sport or recreation.
We have found three of our five featured runners so far. We are looking for your help to spread the word about the film and to help locate the final two. As for ?who we are looking for? I have listed a few general types or basic categories below. The ?final two? may not actually fit into these categories so feel free to share this with anyone with a unique/strange/profound etc. story. (It may even be you!) Further down there is also a brief synopsis and a link to both our website and teaser trailer. Please feel free to share any and all the information enclosed in this email. You can contact us via Facebook Message, Twitter Message, Email or by posting directly to the website.
The Final Two
-The Child Athlete: who runs as cross training or as a primary sport. Can be any gender, race, size, shape. Age range between 8 and 12 years old.
-The Running Family: uses running as a family bonding experience. They can be competitive ie. run in races, marathons, or just do it for fun.
– The ?UBER? Marathon Maniac: someone who is a marathon junkie. Would put down ?run a marathon? on a questionnaire asking them ?what is your weekend get away/favorite past time/ ideal romantic evening etc.?
-The Lone Wolf: someone who runs to be completely alone. They actively look for places to run where no one else goes or would think of going. Someone who can?t see themselves ever running with a partner. Has no ambition to race. Can be male or female.
About What Moves You? A Film for Runners
Told from the point-of-view of runners from all walks of life, this documentary film explores the
inspiration and motivation behind the almost cult-like following the sport of running enjoys. The film follows the stories of five very different runners in a quest to discover if they possess a similar intrinsic urge to run. Delving into the very personal reasons behind their compulsion, the film seeks to understand the biological and cultural forces that get people moving.
What do you think? I’m excited to see this project come to fruition! Are you what they are looking for? Know someone who is? Please share the information with your favorite runner!
