When Stalking Internet Friends Pays Off- In Pictures!
Flashback to this post when I wrapped up the Princess Half Marathon of 2012. I mentioned running into Amy and Julie, (TinkerAmy and SaySay on the Disboards.) I even threw out the line that I wanted to run with them someday, fishing for an invite- and Amy BIT! From the comment section on that post, I submit the following:
You can run with us next year – Julie might as well have had a bullwhip. I was almost scared to mention bathroom breaks, so I powered on through! Truly – peer pressure works, so no extended walking breaks when you have someone with you telling you to RUN! The princess is the only race I know where I actually am not upset if I keep getting slower – that means I got a lot more pictures!
You know what they say- the internet is forever! And I have a memory like an elephant- I do not forget important stuff like this. I was all over that action. The please-be-my-friend stalking commenced.
Through the Disboards we talked about plans, eventually becoming Facebook friends, and joining the same online running groups. SCORE! It was destiny! Princess 2013 would be the race that I not only ran with people, but I stopped for pictures as well. Internet stalking pays off, people!

Princess 2013 was going to be A Whole New World for Shenanigans! |
My MR friends were coming as usual, but not only are they much faster than me, they didn’t plan on waiting for pictures. After my Tinker Bell trip, I was bitten by the picture bug and wanted to stop for as many as possible this year! Plus the MRs all planned on bringing family this time. No offense to the MRs but on a kid free weekend, I don’t want to hang with YOUR kids. Savvy? My running protegee April and my Sister were both coming to the Princess, but not arriving until late Thursday and late Friday nights- so Thursday was set aside for hanging with my new besties.
What, you two didn’t know we were besties? Don’t you read my blog?
In the planning sessions the ladies learned I am a big ol weenie when it comes to thrill rides. My rule has been if I can see it, I can’t do it. I’m totally ok with things that happen in the dark (I LOVE Space Mountain for example) but if I am standing in line watching people plunge to certain death, you can bet I’ll use the chicken exit as soon as I can.
Plan “Get Shenanigans on Expedition Everest” was formed. First thing Thursday we would hit Animal Kingdom and ride.
O.M.G.
Scratch that- first thing Thursday, Shenanigans would drink a few margaritas, and THEN ride EE. Liquid courage above all else! I arrived a bit earlier than the other ladies, so as soon as I could determine it was 5 o’clock somewhere, I had a few drinks. I used this time to walk around Pop Century and mosey over the Art of Animation hotel- absolutely lovely resort! Which had a lovely bar!

Organic! Must be healthy! |
Yes, you see where my priorities were. I was on vacation and I was about to ride a freakin Big Girl roller coaster. This is the only picture I took from Art of Animation. For the record, I was drinking the usual margaritas, but have had the pleasure of Sangria at WDW and it’s pretty fantastic.
After a few text messages we met at Animal Kingdom. The girls were just as they claimed to be online- no surprises like that Amy was really a large black man or Julie was missing her front teeth. Not that there’s anything wrong with that- just pointing out they are who they say they are online. Phew.
The long walk to Everest began. I had to stop and pee, of course, at a few bathrooms along the way. The line was short- which was a curse and a blessing. Too long to wait would probably cause me to rethink this whole plan.
So tall. So fast. So need another drink. Facing my fears, right? |
Amy and Julie were so proud- and relieved I didn’t puke Jose all over them. |
After the excitement of Everest (rode it TWICE yall!) we gave Dinosaur a try. Um, not impressed. It is really bumpy and jerk. I think this picture sums up our WTF thoughts as a group.
I had a small window of time to spare before dinner at Epcot, so we ran over to the Safari. No standby line- YES! Amy was so happy she high fived and maybe even hugged the CMs who beckoned us through the Fast Pass line.
The joy of no waiting at Disney |

These ladies shape young minds. Yay for Pre K teachers! |
And I am sure we will never forget him- and he will never forget us- the wonderful Christian, the CM driving our safari vehicle. He tried to teach us about the animals, and we tried to throw him off his game. Ok, it might have just been me, the slightly drunk passenger in the second row. But it was an amusing Safari nonetheless.
Hi Christian! Thanks for being the Designated Driver! |
With that I was off to Epcot to meet up with my Canadian Tinker Bell friend for steak and cheese soup- in Canada, of course!

I was really hoping that I wasn’t dropping the “large black man” vibe in our internet communications. It’s a problem I have.
What!! My youngest was totally adorable as he stold your popcorn on the monorail. Sheesh. 😉
Love this. 🙂 I think you all sound so fun.
Also wanted to echo the yay for pre-k teachers. My daughter is in pre-k this year and pre-k teachers rock!
Summer-yes, he was TOTALLY adorable and your kids are all great. So are Alicia’s! But Mamma wanted to play! 🙂
Suzanne- I think it’s in their DNA. They work hard and they play hard. Good people, teachers! <3
Oh my teeth, never wore braces you know…but alas, all my cavaties are now crowns does that count. AND FYI, people from Georgia… we got teeth, some of us! Hey can I share this on RWFR since hey I am featured !

Someone needs to start a group for running pre-k teachers who love Disney!
