Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Welcome to Tuesdays on the Run, our weekly link up for running related posts.
Do you carry something with you for each race?? Do you wear something specific everytime you toe the line?? Or maybe it’s just a tradition or superstition that you follow before each race?
Tell us about it!? If you don’t have a lucky charm then please link up any running related post.? We love to read about your training or racing.
My Lucky Charm
I’m not a superstitious person.? I actually don’t have a lucky charm or specific item I must have in my pocket when racing.? It’s just not something I’ve put effort into cultivating.
But I do have a lucky visor.
This visor got me through my first Princess Half Marathon and all the training leading up to the event.
It’s lucky because I had no business being on that race course!
I was lucky- MAJORLY lucky- to finish this race.
Princess Shenanigans was six months pregnant and quite under trained.
Who knew Nike+ wasn’t quite THAT accurate?? Back in 2011, not me!
My training claimed I completed 12 miles at 14 minute miles… but that wasn’t anywhere near reality.
Combine the lack of training with the high temps and humidity that day and it was sheer luck (and a sweet B corral placement) that allowed me to finish this Princess Half.
I’ve retired the lucky visor from regular rotation, but it got me through my first years running 5Ks, 10Ks and that half.? It never saw a DNS when it was laid out the night before and brought me a handful of early PRs.
Hmmm… maybe it’s time for The Visor to make a comeback!
Do you have a lucky charm?? What do you think helps your race day juju??
