My Favorite Five Halloween Costumes For Kids

Halloween is just around the corner. And I know I’m already thinking about Halloween costumes for the kids. Okay, and for myself.

Wut. Are you new here? I love dressing up too!

In no particular order:

INSIDE OUT

This might be the last year I can talk Luke into dressing up. ?But he rocked Riley’s Imaginary Boyfriend look pretty well.

I bought dark blue skinny jeans (the only part he balked at- good boy!), white tshirt, and a black button up shirt. I added an easy home printed transfer and ironed it on to his shirt! Simple.

And Joy? ?Forget about it. ?She’s just too cute for words! My mom made the dress and hand drew the flowers.

Sadness was all Amazon. Wig and loose cowl neck shirt over some navy capris. Add wig and Edna Mode glasses and I was good!

ALADDIN

This one came from Claire’s recent love of the movie, Aladdin. ?She insisted on being the Genie and my mom took care of the rest. The great thing about this look is that it would be relatively simple to find the pieces on Amazon, I think.

Seth joked about being Abu. ?Little did he know, Grandma was all over that action. ?He’s a good sport and even wore the fez and tail all night long!

Again, if you don’t have sewing skills (or an awesome grandma on call!) you could find brown pants and shirt to start this costume off.

HARRY POTTER, DARTH VADER, PIXIE BALLERINA

…or something like that.

Whatever Claire was, it sure was CUTE! This was just pieced together from her dress up wardrobe and she did it on her own. Nailed it!

This was before Lucy was born- so she wasn’t left out!

Same with Vader. We had a ton of random costumes over the years and he grabbed the mask and ran with it.

Luke took a little more planning. We ordered a wand and glasses off – you guessed it- Amazon. My Dad had the tie and we had a dress shirt from some church event. The robes were made by my mom.

Guys, I have a great mom! Ha!

BABY FOOTBALL

My football obsessed then 4-year-old, Seth, gave Lucy a nickname.

She will forever be known in this house as Baby Football.

He was calling her that early on and we were all amused by it. He just knew she was going to be the size of one (she practically was!) and as fun as one.

Well, he called it. She certainly is.

And finally: ?Jacob. Forever 4-years-old and wearing my favorite costume of all time.

This was a one of a kind grandma creation as well. I’ve asked her to put a pattern together and retire as a millionaire, but she just rolls her eyes and says I’m crazy.

But you’d buy one, right?!
