The bells are ringing, my turkey is cooking, and the snow is falling- it must be Christmas time again! So maybe not all that, exactly, but we’re getting real close over here to celebrating the holidays. While there probably isn’t a lot of snow happening in LA- there is some falling at the Universal Studios Hollywood Christmas celebrations! Here is the rundown of all the good things you can expect from a Universal Studios Hollywood Christmas visit.
Thanks, Universal Studios Hollywood, for partnering with me on this post!
I just got back from a trip to Hollywood where I was lucky enough to attend a red carpet premiere. A seriously cool experience. But before that happened, I made a stop at one of my favorite Southern California theme parks: Universal Studios Hollywood.
I mean, my Gryffindor boyfriend needed me to stop by and say hey!Plus my friend Ashley needed to visit Universal Studios Hollywood for the first time as well. Be sure to check her post out for her 7 tips for visiting Universal Studios Hollywood.
Guys, I know you know how much I love the Mouse, but… real talk here. They don’t do everything perfectly over there.
In fact, I think there are at least 6 ways Universal Studios Hollywood beats Disneyland. And I’m going to say that the Universal Studios Hollywood Christmas celebrations look like they just might make me add to the list.
I just missed out on the new holiday season as we showed up just as Halloween Horror Nights were wrapping for the year. And yeah, I’m pouting a bit over that fact.
But that just means I need to go back next year (and maybe try to time things a little better!)
Here’s what’s in store for the Universal Studios Hollywood Christmas season.

Universal Studios Hollywood Christmas
Christmas in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter
I have dreams, guys, dreams of waving my wand and making magic happen! And what would be more magical than snow falling on Hogsmeade Village in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Hollywood?
This is right down my (Diagon) Alley, y’all!
Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter starts on November 17 and runs through January 6, 2019.
There will be nightly snowfalls and the a cappella Frog Choir will sing their favorite holiday tunes.
But the highlight for any witch, wizard, or Muggle has to be “The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle? – a musical light show that will illuminate Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
I can pretty much hear the music now!
For the shoppers out there: listen up. A selection of custom-made collectible Christmas ornaments is coming!
Think Hogwarts castle snow globes, crest, and school mascot ornaments.
Someone send me something from Hufflepuff, please and thank you.
And of course, hot Butterbeer and holiday-themed food will satisfy everyone who visits the village of Hogsmeade.
Grinchmas Returns to Universal Studios Hollywood
There’s a Who-lebration of fun coming too!
Our family loves reading The Grinch every year, and this would be high on our list of experiences when visiting during the Universal Studios Hollywood Christmas season.
You can count on this to be a high energy musical celebration with Martha May Who-vier and the Who Dolls entertaining everyone under the Grinchmas tree. And don’t miss The Who-liday Singers?a hip boy-band ensemble? performing a cappella concerts featuring a mix of Christmas favorites and pop rock.
Grinchmas will take place weekends on December 1-2 and 8-9, and daily from December 14 through December 30, 2018.
Holiday Decorations Throughout the Park and Universal CityWalk
You gotta love a good theme and Universal Studios Hollywood does too!
Christmas decorations will be found all over the park, with the Minions and Super Silly Fun Land joining in the fun.
Universal CityWalk will have a 40-foot tall Christmas tree with 200,00 LED lights. Even better? They will be choreographed to the sounds of the season!
And you know Santa will make an appearance too! You can find him, special photo opps and the tree at 5 Towers plaza.
Be sure to sit a spell and watch the dancing water fountain in the heart of CityWalk splashing away to the holiday-themed music. It will all be lit up in red and green, too!
This transformation takes place on Friday, November 23 and will last through Tuesday, December 25, 2018.
How Much Does Universal Studios Hollywood Christmas Cost?
And because I know you need to know: the holidays at Universal Studios Hollywood is included in the price of theme park admission.
I LOVE that!
It kinda annoys me when parks add special touches- and special pricing (ahem!) during these kinds of events.
